    Hi, All

well, made it through the first week back at work intact....just! I'm sure having holidays just makes work harder :D

I'm intending to put aside some time tomorrow to catch up on the last few days postings (this thread moves so FAST!), but hope everyone is well.

Still on the quest for the ultimate loaf of bread, and am thinking of trying a half and half loaf this weekend. Naturally my BM recipe book doesn't have anything in it like this - do I just literally use half white & half wm flour? Do I do the same with sugar?

Many thanks in anticipation. Yum! Yum Can't wait...may have to walk a few miles this weekend or next week's weigh in may be a problem...does weighing yourself with one foot off the scales help? :rotfl:

The only difference between white and wholemeal recipe is more water in the wholmeal OH tells me, so use half white/wholmeal flour and use more water (he uses 280mls for 14oz flour). You only need just over a teaspoon of sugar, I am informed by the master!

I don't think talking to them would help tbh. I have spoken at length to Gas Safe (Corgi under another name I think) and to me the whole certification thing is shot through with holes. Everything is down to the individual engineer, what one might pass annother might fail, and they don't care that as the end user this makes life almost impossible. They have us over a barrel, and know it.

I would be amazed if any of the mobile caterers on the road were anywhere near as safe as our van - the whole thing has been refitted to the spec required by another GasSafe engineer, and every little aspect was covered.

    And breathe...

I just wrote a reply and lost it! So I will just say I sympathise and hope it will soon be sorted.

  • Had delivery of the chest freezer this morning it was an absolute catalogue of disasters and still an on going drama as had terrible customer service, delivered damaged and no delivery dates they just turn up it seems

    anyway

The delivery van was packed to the ceiling and Mr delivery driver said it was all the sale stuff ordered on the internet, huge TVs and boxes and boxes of M&S wine........I have never seen so many boxes of wine, I did think of driving off with the van while DH and Mr Driver was carrying the freezer into the house :rotfl::rotfl: I could have parked round the corner, sat getting sloshed watching some telly with no licence :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Rebel thoughts do not go well with an aged, worn out body so I battled my inner demons and made a coffee instead :D:D

Thanks Byatt! Well done on the trip, I hate busy city centres, would no more go xmas / sales shopping in Oxford St than cut an arm off. Hate crowds and all the noise. And I am a city girl too!

Just white, but I don't see why could not use soft brown or demerara, it might give a the loaf a nice flavour!

    Yes :), they're my darlings.

Darling no 1 is Charlie old-boy cat and is now 14. Had a bad scare with him last March so every extra second is a bonus. Loves sleeping, snuggling and has a GSOH

Darling no 2 is Jasper (aka Jaspie) kitten. 6mths...into everything, hurtles at life 100 mph, loves eating, snuggling and has a GSOH.

Just about sums up my taste in men, I think :rotfl:
