    Evening All !

A 'making' day today. Made a sleep pillow for elderly neighbour (who from here on in will be referred to as Old Gent, OG, he is with us for christmas, so no doubt be mentioned in dispatches) filled with hops and lavender, and a rice-filled heat pad to match.

Pork pies are baking in the oven and smell delicious, nomnomnom.

List of jobs for tomorrow is growing, and includes making Hokey Pokey and slathering it in choccy, baking and freezing a couple of trays of yorkshires, finishing off pork pies with jelly and writing out the lables for all the hm pressies. Prep seafood soup for christmas eve dinner (OG and Mrs OG in attendance), find something interesting to do with crab/prawns/smoked salmon for the main course. Make good old-fashioned trifle for pudding.

Mardy - Many congrats for tomorrow, I assume wee lappy is a present :). I have one of those too, it's great to be able to sit with feet up, choc in one hand, g&T in other and lappy perched on knee!

Hope everyone is on schedule with their plans, whatever they are, I for one have seen the back of the shops!

I'm not sure whether I'll be around tomorrow, as I anticipate it being a busy one, so advance birthday wishes Mardatha.

I've been busy this evening baking Softstuff's Christmas cookies. Very pleased with how they turned out

Kidcat, I loathe writing Christmas cards too, although I do love receiving them :o I always have good intentions about putting a nice chatty note in, but invariably leave it too late and don't have the time.

I found Gailey's post comparing her situation this Christmas to last Christmas very thought-provoking. I think overall we're probably about the same, but our prospects aren't as good. Last year I was just starting a job (fixed contract), this year I've recently finished it, although I am back for a few days helping out at the moment.

Hope everyone is as ready as they can be for Christmas and that it will be full of festive OS fun :xmastree:

Hey Mrs Chips, I bought some Cardigan Bay Scallops today in the food market in Cardigan!!! They were 3 for £2 making them only a bit more expensive than the ones in Mr T on offer ATM.

You guys should be so proud of me, the woman on the stall said slide a knife along the flat side when you get home, and basically get rid of any thing you don't recognise as a scallop! Ewwwwww....I never knew they had so much other STUFF IN!!!! Gag, Yuk Yuk Yuk. Anyway they look exactly as they 'should' now. A little treat for us christmas eve...the alien nightmares should have stopped by then.

Had a complete and utter flap this morning when my car wouldn't start, as I predicted last night, as my headlamps had been left on for an hours or so. OH wouldn't charge the battery as he said it 'would recover overnight' I was running late, cross with his sillyness, and generally very stressed. But in the end I go everything done, including cleaning out my chicken's house, I've just had a lovely tidy up and dust in my bedroom for pre-christmass lovelyness and I'm off for a hot bath....despite the Rayburn switching itself off today :( OH has THAT job for tomorrow.

I just need to ice the cake I'm delivering tomorrow (butter icing, nothing posh) and I shall reward myself with that bath.

*comes in and places a plate of warm dark chocolate and orange shortbread in front of the altar as an offering*

Can I be a teapot nymph please or guardian of the tea urn? I quite fancy that role as long as I can wear thermals and wooly socks under those skimpy robes.

Oooh Shortbread! I haven't made any of that yet, must add it into todays to-dos. I think mine will be either almond or hazelnut... since that's what I have leftover!

I like "Guardian of the Tea Urn", but the high priestess GQ will confirm.

You didn't get a winter robe? I believe they're referred to on earth as Slankets?

Can I adds a generous slice of yorkshire brack as an offering :p
I had to google what that was. Only if you top it with Lancashire cheese :p

All i can add is a slice of last weeks banana bread, still going strong.
That'll be good and sticky by now.

I fear I peaked too soon with my seasonal baking. Though I've baked almost everything for gifts, I'm struggling to think of what to make for dessert on Christmas eve. The in-laws are coming round for a buffet tea, so they can de-stress before we all go to theirs on Sunday. I'm taking Christmas cake, Christmas pudding and mince pies Sunday, so need something different for Saturday. I debated a log, but would need extra ingredients. Now I'm thinking maybe a berry pavlova. Or baileys tiramisu... yikes, I'll never decide.

Sorry to hear about those not feeling festive. I find a large glass of homemade baileys, some fudge and maybe a cookie or three improve matters greatly.

Happy birthday for tomorrow Mardatha! I got a little lappie last birthday too, with a diddy screen.

Swoon, Katie, scallops my absolute favorite. We visited the fishmonger in the quay at Aberaeron a few weeks ago, fantastic fish, and HUGE scallops - he weighed one - it was £3 FOR ONE :eek::eek:. Was the stall Mr Claws?

Now sporting my first burn of the festive season (won't be the last), I decided to use heated oven from pork pies to make yorkies. Note to self - when removing hot tins from the oven, it helps to use a cloth :rotfl:
