I think Gailey that I feel like everything is spiralling out of control. I'd like some of that control back so going to grow some stuff next year. I tried this year but was very disappointed with my harvest. I am going to concentrate on growing fruit this year. Already have rhubarb, strawbs, red and black current and blackberries. They were all pretty new last year and didn't yield much so hoping that this year I will have better results.

I know nothing about redcurents, but the blackcurrent will devinatly get better with age and any pruning/broken branch's that come off it, just plant 'em, got a good chance of rooting, my Mum only ever bought 1 blacurrent bush and by doing that ended up with 9 of 'em

Rhubard need's a year to settle then light picking the second year after that it tend's to do very well and can live for 20+ year's. hth.

Got a new laptop so I can sit on couch and be comfy when am not well instead of huddled on beanbag on the floor in a draught. Can you all write smaller please as its just a wee screen.

yey! welcome to the titchy screen gang. I wouldn't have anything bigger now. I sit here on my sofa, cuppa on table next to me with this little machine on the arm of the sofa, in like minded company.... who needs to meet up with friends in a costa-lotta coffee ;)

Fuddle, I don't know where you think your self pride and esteem have gone, but having read your posts for yonks I think you should be very proud of what you achieve and hold your head up high.

Thinking about it, we're all coping much better than we would have done if this (and other similar threads) had not existed for us to chew the fat.

I reckon we can all be proud of ourselves. "Every little helps" as the saying goes - and it was my saying way before "they" pinched it.

If you could actually see how I sit before you all sometimes you would think otherwise ;) Nah, it's more to do with the death of the old life and my lack of confidence in myself. When we had more money I could squander on myself, it gave me confidence as I had stuff to hide behind. Now it is just me, stripped bare with nothing but washing up hands and charity shop frocks. I'm thinking I'm pretty much like that Kirsty Alsopp but without money - why should the lack of money make me feel any lower? So, at the turn of the year I will try with my appearance, get out of my rut and I be the lady I am meant to be :)

People with money bleat on about their thrifted frocks and vintage whatnot. Just because I do it out of, not necessity, because Primark and the like are pretty cheap, but I do it because it's my style and I can't buy my style because the people with the money and the vintage whatnot have driven the prices up!

    Hi all

Sorry have not read back feel ka**ered up at 7am out by 8am doing the Mr T Christmas shop it was horrid, people are so rude no patience and definantly no Christmas spirit to be heard or seen. Everytime I was hit by a trolly I would just look round and say Merry Christmas people were so shocked but it made me giggle.

I am thoroughly dreading our Christmas shop tomorrow night, for that very reason. People annoy me, not because they get in my way but because their attitude is so rude and so selfish. With two children in tow I am determined to be overly Christmassy like yourself wen3.

Did it annoy people all the more or give them a christmas reality check?

A quick dash in to say about the current bushes.

They fruit on last year's growth, so if you only planted them this year they should be much better next year. Just don't prune out all last year's growth or there will be nothing to fruit.

Gailey - we have just set up our nativity (inherited from my grandad), I usually set it up when we do tree but decided this year to make it more special by waiting and doing it now, we read the Christmas story, and as the story went through DD placed the figures into the stable, she was thrilled, but is now upset there is no star! She has decided to make her own with cardboard and glitter to hang above it. I reckon your little ones would enjoy an afternoon with a box and some cardboard and glue making the story come to life. If you cut the people out of cardboard and attach a peg behind them they will stand just fine.

Being this organised so early is such a treat for me and I find I am still worrying that I must have forgotten something, but today we popped into Ikea for breakfast and then into local pet shop to view some lovely animals, nipping into a couple of shops to pick up bits I needed. Bought cat litter in bulk at animal wholesalers - works out cheaper for two large sacks than one sack at Pets at Home.

Tomorrow I am viewing a flat for a friend who cannot get to view at the moment and also have to have my xray to confirm the pneumonia all clear. Will have to top up on bread and milk too but am not looking forward to busy shops.

Our last hamster died yesterday - she was racing around chewing cage, then an hour later had gone, cue tears and upset. Have thrown cage and all accessories away so no chance of passing on any bugs and also no chance of any replacements!!

Meals are very hit and miss here as I find late afternoon when I should be cooking I have no energy at all. had bad migraine last night too and had to get my dad to collect DD from party as OH had already gone to bed ready for work.

Does anybody else hate Christmas cards? - I really hate them, I think they look really untidyand all the hassle of hanging them really peeves me.:o Then today we receive a card redirected from last house signed in scrawl I cannot read - and have no idea who it can be from. :o:o:o How bad am I? have only sent one card this year - I kept putting off writing them and then realised it was too late. Next year will be better I promise:rotfl:

*comes in and places a plate of warm dark chocolate and orange shortbread in front of the altar as an offering*

Can I be a teapot nymph please or guardian of the tea urn? I quite fancy that role as long as I can wear thermals and wooly socks under those skimpy robes.

P.S My teapot is called Boris as for some reason it reminded me of Boris Johnson.

Fuddle - I just wanted to say, you may have no money, but at least you recognize it and are dealing with it. I wonder how many of the snooty mothers are paying for Christmas on their credit cards and whether they have the same inner resources that you (and everyone on this board) have? I hope you don't mind, but I've just had a quick nose on your blog: and your dining room wall is fabulous. You have a real talent there, and who cares if it is done by necessity :T
Wen3 - I agree about the shops. I made the fatal mistake of going into M&S food hall today, and fled after about 5 minutes. Queues and grumpy people everywhere, I decided then and there that anything we don't have already is coming from our friendly end of the road co-op!

Ok time to motivate myself to make an apple, pear and mincemeat crumble for pudding tonight.
