*comes in and places a plate of warm dark chocolate and orange shortbread in front of the altar as an offering*

Can I adds a generous slice of yorkshire brack as an offering :p

Has anyone seen the day, I seem to have missed placed it?? One minute it was 8am and I was trying to entertain the dog whilst eating porridge and now it's just gone 4pm and I'm not sure how!!!

I had so much to do today but looking round I don't seem to have managed anything :( I've still got 5 hampers to put together by tomorrow, the laundry basket seems to be breeding clothes... I've done 3 loads today and it doesn't seem to have gone down at all, gawd knows how I'm going to get stuff dry before we have to set off to visit the family. The house is a tip, I need to find the remainder of the squirreled presents and then rap them. I need to finish making the rag rug for my mum and finish making peanut butter balls for hubby present before he gets home and finds them!!

I'm really not ready for christmas this year and don't seem to have any christmas spirit :( don't know why, it all just feels odd. Usually I really look forward to seeing everyone but this year it just feels like such hard work.

I know I should stop moaning and get on but thought a quick play on here with a brew and a slice of cake might help cheer me up! :) You're all so great at helping raise a smile

All i can add is a slice of last weeks banana bread, still going strong. I can soon add some sticky toffee pud that DD is making for christmas day alternative pud - it will sit happily in freezer until then.

Decided to leave mince pies, chocolate log, cupcakes and quiche until tomorrow and possibly Saturday. Have wrapped the "lucky dip" pressies and found a brilliant "pass the parcel" type story involving Mr and Mrs wright - every time you say "wright, right or write" the parcel gets passed to the right and there's the odd "left the present at home, so they turned left to go back for it" so then the parcel goes left. I am planning to put some chocolate frogs in different sized boxes so there is a parcel each and no-one will know who gets which box.

Story is here if anyone ever wants to do it (my colleague played it at a works do - said it was hysterical!)

Your post about knives made me chuckle so much.

My aims for next year are

    find a job
    up my income
save some money even if just small amount
buy throughout year for next xmas
grow more in garden and forgage more
    make even more from scratch
do more carboots/nearly new sales to kit the kids out!
    be more organised and planned.
Try and maintain a nice standard of living on lower budget
pay off more debts -dont have huge amount personally just overdraft and dreaded catalougue so hopefully gone by next xmas but hubby has creditcards and huge loan.

I wondered who would be first with the NY resolutions :rotfl:

I think Gailey that I feel like everything is spiralling out of control. I'd like some of that control back

Above all I want to get back my self pride and esteem. I am determined to live my life as full as possible, taking care with my appearance and doing things as a family - albeit as tightly and as frugally as possible. I do not want to get down about money or lack of, yes DH job will help but it's still very scary. Did we think that last year we would be in this bad a position? When the tough threads began did any of us really think it would get this bad? Who knows what next year holds. :(

I didn't think things would be quite this bad a few years ago, although financially I "should" be OK for a while, as long as I don't go on a long pie-shopping expedition. But I've thought about your comments about control - I've felt very out of control with my life with things just "happening to me" & you have prompted me to actively make a few decisions about my life & situation, so :T Fuddle. And yes, fleece is your best friend!

Fuddle, I don't know where you think your self pride and esteem have gone, but having read your posts for yonks I think you should be very proud of what you achieve and hold your head up high.

Thinking about it, we're all coping much better than we would have done if this (and other similar threads) had not existed for us to chew the fat.

I reckon we can all be proud of ourselves.

Fuddle, I echo Jamanda - you have achieved so much to be proud of. I agree we're probably all doing better thanks to being on here - I know I am so big thanks to everyone!
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...
  • Thankyou for the nice welcome:D Gosh this thread moves quickly, don't think I will be able to keep up:eek:
fuddle - Love the new dining room wall, I have left some comments on your blog. Think I might be signed on as "Pink Sherbert" though;)

Today was my last day at work until after xmas which leaves me 2 days to get the last few xmas presents. I suppose i'll also have to face the dreaded food shop tomorrow!
I will be going to Aldi first thing in the morning and hopefully won't have to visit any of the big supermarkets which are horrendous!

On a positive note I did get a mary Berry xmas cake mix for £2 at MrT yesterday. Getting round to making it is another thing entirely:rotfl:
Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)
    Diet starts today(31/12/16)! Only 18lbs to lose:eek:

    4/2/16 - 13lbs to lose:D
    11/2/16 - 12lbs to lose:D
    3/3/16 - 11lbs to lose:D
  • What a beautiful sunny day we have had today :j this has made me feel a tad better and a little less bah humbug.

DSS has his birthday tomorrow and we have to do a buffet party for a few of our close family. Poor little begger gets everyone turning up in between with Christmas gifts and saying "ohhhhhhh I forgot it was your birthday"

I don't really want to go into detail as it is very long winded but DH ex has been claiming benefits for the two boys who live with us. We have finally had a letter confirming that they know the boys live with us. This has taken nearly a year and a half to sort out. We only get £40ish a month for my DS or my DS and two DSS's the amount is the same, however DH is looking at redundancy early next year so things will change so I am glad they have finally realised all the kids live with us. I can't believe someone would claim for kids they don't have. He has never had child support in 6 years either. Sorry if this is too personal but I just needed to get it off my chest :p

Little old man (I used to live next door to) rang last night to say he is still coming for Christmas :j:j I think I have upset him by saying I did not want any gifts when he asked :( I then said just get a tin of roses between us all, but I still feel terrible.

Sat here blinkin starvin as DH has decided to take summat apart in the kitchen and now he can't get it back. If you hear a load of swearing and shouting that would be our house :rotfl::rotfl:

Hi everyone! Just joined today, was a long time lurker on many threads, but decided to pop my head up and start posting.

Mild day in fife and got my xmas pressies wrapped. Just having a wee glass of wine with one eye on the tv and the other typing away. Spent the last 3 days reading the old style living thread, though cant find it tonight for the life of me!
