Finally cleared the conservatory so we can get to the table on Christmas day
The problem is I put a load of feebay stuff in bags to put in the loft until after the holidays and the loft is dripping wet through with condensation.:eek: North facing side only. Been on the forum looking for suggestions and have been checking the air vents and trying to lower all the boxes so the air can circulate. Apparently this is a common problem when you have your cavity wall done but they do not warn you about this
I was going to bake this afternoon but having been running round like chicken lickin thinking the sky is going to fall in all day :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hope you have all had a more productive day

Evening Peeps
Taurus - so glad you are feeling a little better, and coo, what a whopper!
Softstuff - I made the Fruit mincemeat drops today. I did a test batch at ping-pong ball size and they were huge! Are they supposed to spread out flat, or are they supposed to retain a bit of a 'bump'? They taste delish, just need to get them a to a bit more of a serve-able size - mine are more like frizbees:rotfl:
Not a lot else to report, christmas spirit still awol, frankly could do with the spending the next week in an alcohol and chocolate induced fug!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -

They do spread pretty flat yes. And if what you call a ping pong ball sized ball has spread out to frisbee size, I'm wondering if you play ping pong with a tennis racquet :rotfl:
Maybe you should use smaller balls. Now there's a phrase I never thought I'd say to anyone.
I didn't make meringue yesterday, I felt a bit sweetied out! So I'll make some more savoury things today and go back to baking on Thursday.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
:rotfl: Ok, smaller balls it is! I don't think the first lot were quite as big as a ping pong balls, lord alone knows how they would have turned out, like dinner plates!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Money doesnt seem to go far at all these days, so texted everyone this year to say its birthdays only from now on, so far only one person has snubbed so cant have been a good friend to start with! thier children never ever say thank you so now know where the bad manners stem from!!!!
Having a bit of a dilema over what to do about a christmas present for a couple of friends who have been a bit odd with us. We used to live nearby but had to move to save some money. We've hardly seen them since we moved but it's not through want of trying, we contect them quite regularly and when we have met up we've been the ones who have initiated it.
We have made all our own homemade hampers this year and when we have contacted them to try and meet up to give them their prezzi we have had no response. I'm feeling a bit fed up and don't know what to do. We don't have a car so have to go on public transport which makes things the but harder.
We made them a present because we wanted to give them something as friends not because we want anything in return but I'm beginning to wonder whether it's worth the effort! And for that I feel bad and like I'm a bad friend:j

'you wouldn't worry about what people think, if you realised how seldom they do'0 -
Tink, I've learned that if after making contact over and over again, people do not respond, they are actually "telling" you something, albeit without words. I have learned the hard way as I've always been one never to give up. If you want to give them a present then do so, but don't expect them to maintain contact in the future. As hard as it is to see a friendship end, sometimes they come to an end by natural process.

I'm inclined to think, no response, no present - unless you find out that they've had a good reason for not being in touch - illness or something. You're certainly not a bad friend!
eta, Byatt you are clearly a much nicer person than me!0 -
Tink - there are all sorts of reasons why your friends have not replied to your overtures - lost texts/calls/emails, their own personal situation re health/family/relationship/money, etc but it may also be that having moved to save money and no longer having a car means they are not interested any more - or that your situation reminds them that they need to address theirs and that embarrasses them.
I'd be inclined to forget about delivering the present/meeting up but would send them seasons greetings and an invite to stay in touch and leave it up to them. That leaves the door open for contact if they decide they want to or need to. Then I'd give the gift to someone who would appreciate the work/thought/fun you and OH have put into it - a charity who could raffle it, care home, church, neighbour, etc
You and OH have put a lot of love and thought into your gifts - don't let this situation spoil that."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
Hi folks, new girl requesting to join. Polite, house broken and love softstuffs recipes.:D
Cant believe how bad things are at the moment. We are having to make some really tough decisions at the moment. Not easy but we have to do it.
The kids ( 4 of them) have been brilliant this year, none of them want much, DD17 offered to have her present next month if it helped. Compared to previous years the gifts will look pathetic, I know they will be happy, its just to me I feel I have let them down because OH and I have been so rubbish with money.
Feeling a bit sorry for myself.Sorry folks.........robbing one card to pay another as hubs didnt tell me he hadnt been able to pay 2 of the cc for a couple of months. He didnt want to worry me:eek:
