One other thing and then I'll shut up (for a while).
I did read the T&Cs prior to ordering and the bit which affected my order the most was this:
"2.3 Where you have redeemed a promotional code or any other offer ("a Code") against your order, acceptance of this order is subject to our verifying that the Code has been issued to you personally, that you comply with all the terms of the offer and qualify for the Code. In the event that the Code has not been issued to you for your personal use or you do not qualify for the offer, the price of the order will be adjusted notwithstanding any email or other confirmation that you receive."
I used no codes on my order as the lappie was cheap enough as it was and to do so might have enabled them to reject the order. I'm sure a lot of peeps on Hot Deals and here used promo codes and if it gets to the stage where Littlewoods start sending laptops out, it occurred to me that they'll probably enforce that bit (for once)0 -
Worth the hassle?0

Strangeways wrote:I will not be complaining to Watchdog - as has been noted on this board, it was a clear mis price, and in the unlikely event that I get one for £249, I will count myself extremely fortunate. The one thing that has annoyed me is that Littlewoods retrospectively adjusted their order records, leading to my order confirmation printout saying 'Laptop' and their online tracking system saying Vista. This is heavy handed of them, to say the least - surely the cancellation e mail (which I am yet to receive) would be sufficient to get them off the hook.
Anyhow. the number of orders pretty much guaranteed that Littlewoods would pick up the error and cancel all orders. Incidentally, assuming the text of the message you sent to Watchdog is complete, I notice you didn't mention that you had actually ordered six laptops.
To be fair, I don't think they did retrospectively adjust the order records. I ordered very early, and whilst the order and email both mentioned the laptop, from the start their order tracking system only mentioned the software.
Incidentally, it wasn't a mis-price, but a mis-description. If you look at the code for the items everyone ordered, it was either that for Vista or the new Office student package. Misdescriptions by the way are covered by the same T&C conditions as mis-prices so this makes no material difference so far as I can tell.
My own irritation is the speed with which they have dealt with this. It is obvious from reading here and on HotUKDeals that they were made aware of this very early on. They could have withdrawn the item immediately. Whilst it didn't start out that way, I can't help but wonder if they took advantage to open thousands of new credit accounts in one day - they must have had more on that day than in several months previously. Remember we didn't just register for their website, but everyone, even if they paid by credit card, applied for a Littlewoods credit account by registering on their site the other day. We will all be getting credit agreement forms to sign in the next week!
Equally, why does it take so long to cancel all the orders? They really aren't a very efficient company!0 -
Yay, credit agreements, now i can try out my new shredder
They should be concerned about the backlash - several thousand people have now seen what a poor online ordering system littlewoods has0 -
While everyone else is having their orders cancelled, they are still sending confirmations out.
Mine was sent just this morning.

It's amazing that someone would go through registration on this site for the purpose of posting that! Half term already?0 -
