Asda a few months back were selling a Epson wireless that had double sided capability for about £55 i missed the offer but worth checking if some stores have stock.
(current printer is an old Epson and i always buy my compatible inks from ebay costs less than £1 a cartridge!)
Could you tell me who you buy the inks off on ebay please (assuming you've had no issues with them) :A

And if anyone has successfully used Canon compatibles could you tell me where from too please? :)

I have an old Epson 1290 printer (I keep it because it does A3 photographic prints). It has always run on compatibles and is still giving stirling service.

I buy most of my cartridges from 7dayshop.com and recently got £20 worth on a special deal that will be sufficient for me to print for the next three years.

If you have been happy with the print quality of your Epson, read up on how to resurrect and maintain it at :

    http://www.mwords.co.uk/catalog/info-articles-printer-maintenance-c-15_128.htm

There are several pages on that site that show you how to completely strip, clean and unblock the innermost parts of older models and tips that work on how to stop the print heads from clogging up.
  • i have used jettec compatable cartidges on my old epsom rx420 for years and its been ok. they were recommended by Which Magazine. I get them from Ink and media http://www.inkandmedialtd.co.uk/acatalog/jettec_ink_cartridges.html

Earlier posts on here have said that the Kodak "we are cheap for ink" is not accurate, so beware.

I have used compatibles in both Epsom and HP with no problem. Recently I bought a Canon (not had to ink replace in yet) and to be honest I have found it the easiest, simplest and most user friendly printer I have ever used. Shop around there are some real bargain out there in the Canon range - mine is a MP272.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • I agree Kodak printers are not reliable.

After years of printing using all sorts, and finding them all expensive when you include paper cost as well. What I do now is I bought a laser printer for all printing of text, it will last for years and not cost anything extra for ink that is unless you print continually and I only paid about £50 for it. And for photographs I prepare them on my computer put them on a memory stick and take them now to a Max Spielman shop they are all over the country and the results are very good and photos are instant And if you require them a bit cheaper prepare them on your computer and send them down the line to Bonusprint then you can pick individual prints or a book of photos.

7dayinks are allegedly cheap and good. Actually 7dayshop (don't know if they're connected) might be worth trying as they're about the cheapest for most computer accessories ;)

I've used bulk compatable inks from Asda/Tesco for years in my canon ip3000( a 3 colour kit costs about £8 with hardware) and not had any problems or colour balance errors. I'm surprised more people don't use them as they reduce the cost way, way down so that its not a factor. I do a lot of colour printing on glossy paper - so it's the paper that is the cost.

You get the hardware in the kit to hand-drill a small hole in the top of each cartridge and little rubber stoppers to close the holes. You inject ink using the syringe supplied. I fill all the carts whenever I get any low-ink warnings.

It can be a little messy, but you get the knack, and nearly zero ink costs are very useful to me.
    good luck.
