Yes I agree, she appears to have complied with the lane markings correctly but encountered an agressive numpty

I'm not sure the offender is a complete numpty or the friend is totally blameless in this situation, I'm sure many readers have experienced or been that victim, some drivers will wait for a roundabut to be clear during peak time, it will never be clear and a more aggressive approach is sometimes required, it's not as if the others on the roundabout are rallying around .

Is the entrance and exit she used marked as a double lane?.

Did she stay in her lane going around the roundabout or was she straying in to his lane as many people do, that is the only reason I can see for the other driver using the horn.
The number of people who start in the left lane, then drift into the right lane on a roundabout before going off at the exit seem to be getting more and more lately

  • Without knowing the exact happenings leading up to the horn blast it's hard to tell, but apparently easy to opinionate over.
My idea would be that the horny one was either in the wrong lane or was cheekily trying to jump the queue, as he neared the roundabout he probably indicated left hoping to get back into the correct lane, your friend probably never seen the indication as she was watching the traffic leading up to and on to the roundabout. Horny man takes offence at her not letting him back in so tootled away, parp parp!!

Yeah that. That's the only thing I can think she might have done to elicit a legitimate horn warning. If she didn't straight-line across him then it's difficult to see what his problem could be.

Are you saying you never notice road signs? :D

I wonder if the reason for the outburst was her drifting from her lane and 'straightlining' the roundabout?

It happens to me on one roundabout near here regularly - people going straight ahead don't leave enough room for people in the lane to their right.

Highly unlikely. The lanes are fairly spacious.
  • or maybe the blast on the horn was just to let her know that he was going to skip across and take the exit

I suggested that to her but she said that the blast on the horn was extremely aggressive; not the kind that signals the presence of the driver or his intentions.
