Yeah I would take a lower paid p/t job cos tax credits are there for a reason and may well make the difference to you. I know when I start work I will go part time and tax credits will make up the difference. I actually won't be much better off (more major in terms of finances is getting debt free) but at least I'll be working....
If however you do find yourself unemployed don't use it as an excuse to lie in bed all day. Get a routine. Get up still at the same time (no later than 9am on 'work day') and like go for a walk or something. Find out the community groups nearby (often run by churches) and use those. Often you can get a bit of company and a cuppa for £1 or less. Try and reduce transport costs and walk as much as you can or get a good value bus ticket. Even try freecycle or your local bicycle cooperative (I know they have one in Cambridge but can't remember what it's called. But bikes there are like £40-60) and see if you can get a cheap bike? I paid quite a bit for my latest (no regrets) but my first one that I really used up here only cost £50. Or try gumtree?
Cycling does two things. reduces transport costs and also gets you free fresh air and gives you sooo much freedom compared to even the bus
Know I am here for you and praying you find something soon.....
Hugs

Hi Erme
I wish I could have the opportunity to lie in bed, no such chance with a DD who I have to get to school. I do have a car but it is all paid for and very cheap running costs. But I do have the option that I can walk to places too if money is tight.
I did try biking a couple of years ago and to be honest I'm not the best lol.
Take care.
Lil

Hi Everyone Out There
Well I feel a bit better today, still up and down but I know I'll bounce back. I've been through a lot worse
Still texting on off OH. Can't seem to make the break fully
I'm so weak.
So, now my head is back to my debts. Need to think about me and DD only cos no one else is going to (apart from my mum).
Had a couple of NSD's but had to buy tobacco tonight so hopefully no more now until the weekend.
Sold 4 items on e-bay for over £100 so very happy about thatand got lots more to list.
I need a kick up the rear guys to get my outstanding amount sorted lol. It will be on here by the weekend and I might even do an SOA (although I know I will be shouted at by some of you lol), I think thats what I need.
Well off to snoop on other diaries for inspiration.
Take care.
Lil

Hey Lil,
Sorry I’ve been so absent, I’m really sorry to read about your break up and your job. I think I’m similar to you and Muffin, I just can’t meet guys I like that are straight forward and it all ends up going pete tong!
I hope you’re feeling better now, have been in anymore contact with him?

Hi LG
Feeling a lot more positive today and had some contact. Sometimes I just feel like I can't be bothered to make the effort anymore though lol.
I've noticed that me, you and muffin all work in the same business. What is it about accounts that make us so bad with our own money
I'm hoping the job is going to be ok, just might have to move departments to straighten some things out but it is a challenge that I'm looking forward to.
Take care.

Hello Lil,
I've just messaged you the link for shop and scan. I'm sorry they don't sort out referrals very often but hopefully once you sign up they'll be sending your invite quickly.
We do seem very similar in our relationship lives. I too find men who need me (I think that's due to my own failings though) and I do think that after I've boosted them enough they're ready to move on and meet someone special.
It's really hard to make that final break and I do understand completley how you're feeling. It's healthier for your self esteem to pull away, although I'm sure you know that. Even being aware of that myself I'm still a sucker for attention - personally!
Maybe we see so many figures on paper that it just becomes numbers to us rather than scary debts? Like being around people's accounts a lot just desensitises us? I'd love to blame something else so I think I'll go with that this week!
Your diary does remind me very much of my life too so I can really relate to some things you say. I've subscribed too and am quite a way through.
Take care and have a lovely day.

Hi Guys
I don't know why I don't like posting on here when I'm down, my diary just seems full of doom and gloom at the moment and I don't think it makes interesting reading
Had another rough day at work but I think I might hopefully be staying which will be a weight off my mind.
I have had quite a productive weekend where I have been sorting out things to sell on e-bay and my dining table is nearly full, and that is just from the living room!! I know there is more so I will now have to start listing it. Sold 6 things already though and have another 12 listed, 3 with bids on. Some of them have already been re-listed twice but might just try once more for good luck.
DD is spending a day at the school which she starts in September tomorrow, she is excited and nervous (and so am I). Was talking to another mum earlier who is feeling the same so fingers crossed things will be good for her and she will really enjoy it.
I promise, promise, promise that I will have my outstanding debts listed this week so I know where I am. I have downloaded an app on my phone to try and keep a daily record of spends which I am hoping will be a bit of a wake up call to me.
Hope you all have a lovely evening!!
Take care.
Lil

Hi LG
Things seem to be really busy for you at the moment and I'm hoping the flat hunt goes well.
A bit more contact but still not as much as I'd really want, am I expecting too much?? I think so!!
I think staying at work is looking good now, just moving department which I am looking forward to.
Take care.

Hi Lil,
Really pleased for you on the job front, a move internally can be a real boost sometimes so I hope you get a good one!
As for us accountants being bad with money - who knows! Why can I manage hundreds of millions on a daily basis at work with no problems yet less than £2k a month of my own money is impossible???
It depends what you want, if you are comfortable with the break then it may be easier to cut ties once your mind is off him then who knows who it might let in as a replacement? With men I always seem to expect too much. Try and take a massive step back from him and see how he reacts - if nothing then he definitley isn't worth bothering about!
Hugs!
