    Thanks LG

I actually got three presents :rotfl::rotfl: smellies and chocolates so didn't break the bank, but its the thought and to think I was only hoping I got a card :).

I did have words as I made her one too but she did coming down the stairs with presents in her hands singing happy birthday so it made me laugh.

Had a lovely relaxing day today so back to work tomorrow,

    Take care.

  • I am so mad with myself. I have actually sat down tonight and worked out all my debt and it is more than my light bulb moment :mad::mad::mad:

I know this is because I took my eye of the ball and let things slip recently so I am now back with a vengeance. I know I have the weekend night out but I have money put away for that so that is it. NO MORE SPENDING!!!!

My total debts now are £11810.52 but this does include the full amount of council tax and water rates as I am behind on them, and my initial light bulb moment didn't so all in all it's not too much of an increase but it hasn't gone down enough :(:(

I really am cross. I have now gone through my debts and all have sort codes and account numbers on so I am going to make a monthly payment and then also hopefully try to do weekly payments on top.

This always happens when I have a birthday. I tend to look at where my life is going and I'm still in the same/worse position as this time last year. This time next year I am promising myself things will be different. Blimey this was a wake up call :o:o

Think I should go to bed now, not a happy Lil.

    Take care.

Oh Lil, you sound, from the outside, like you're being too hard on yourself. That may be a good thing to get you really focussed, but the great part in all of your reckonings is that you did actually take the time to sit and work everything out and now you have an exact and correct figure to work towards.

Years before you may have thought that you're in the same bad place but didn't really know how to pull yourself up and out, or weren't really ready. Now you are and there are loads of us who love hearing your updates so you've found the perfect spot to sort it all out.

Your life has also turned a little corner. You've sorted the man situation out so now you can concentrate on you, your daughter and your finances. Fantastic stuff!

I hope you feel better about things this morning. x

    Hi MT

Thanks for the lovely post, I'm feeling a bit better about it today. Didn't really sleep well last night and had to work late tonight so I've only just got round to congratulation LG too :o

At least I have actually sorted them out like you say and all the paperwork is in a neat folder in my bag so I can even sort payments out at work if I have to :o

Hope you have had a good evening.

    Take care.

  • Didn't sleep well last night after sorting my debts out last night but I am feeling a bit better this morning knowing that I haven't kept putting it off and now have a figure. I have all the information I need regarding bank account etc in a folder that I can keep in my handbag so I can even do payments at work if i want to as I will have all the information at hand.

E-baying isn't moving as quick this time. I have 13 items listed and only bids and watchers on two of the items. I have about another fifty items to put on at the moment but I remember reading on someones thread about listing them a bit at a time so then you don't have loads to post on one day so I'm going to do that. Thanks for the tip whoever it was but I have a feeling it was MT :)

DD leaves junior school next week and I have already got the teachers cards and presents ready, only little bits from Mr A. But then I have a whole new uniform to buy this summer.

Oh, I nearly forgot, she got her SATS results yesterday, 4a's all the way through so I am a very happy proud mum today for her :T:T:T:T

My spreadsheet has been updated and I have all my outgoings sorted for the rest of the year :o I seriously need some e-bay money to get a few more pennies in so I have a bit to fall back on.

I do owe my Mum a fair bit of money which I have started to pay off and I am determined not to borrow any more off her anymore. In fact I have told her to tell me no. I think its about time I stood on my own two feet.

Its a good job I went through my paperwork last night as I thought I had sent my tax credits form off, no, there it was sat at the bottom of the pile. That would have been a disaster if that money had stopped.

Right, I had better get off to bed now and catch up on some much needed beauty sleep.

Hope you all had a good evening.

    Take care.

I probably did mention listing things in bits, but LG was the one who initially told me! :D

I used to borrow a bit of money off my Mum a lot of months. So, now I have my ebay money paid into a separate bank account (the one I call my "unexpected income") and I always keep at least £100 in there to use as my "borrow" money. If I struggle to get through the month or have an unexpected bill come in or unexpected night out/forgotten birthday etc then I borrow from this account rather than anyone else and pay it straight back on pay day. It really works in making me feel like I've taken control and not relying on anyone which helps keep me encouraged on my Debt Free journey.

Absolute congratulations to your daughter. Those are brilliant results!

    Hey Lil,

I echo Muffins post before about being too hard on yourself, you're doing so well and you are so much further forward than last year. I'm sure if you hadn't taken the action that you have then would it not be much worse??

Take this as LBM number 2 and use it to keep motivated, maybe think about where you'd like to be in another years time and set targets to get there by next year so you can really see a difference? Big hugs, its such an up and down journey this debt busting and that's why these diaries are so wonderful, when I read back through mine I've had moments like this and it was all the support and encouragement from you lot posting to me that made me see sense and keep going :)

MASSIVE well done to your DD!! Those are amazing results! What a star, you must be so proud of her :T
That's a great idea from MT to keep your ebay earning separatley and use it as a buffer, and you'll feel an acheivement when you manage to pay your Mum off and you dont have to borrow from her anymore. :A

Hope you're OK and feeling better about things now, hope you have a lovely weekend as I might not manage to get online

Everyone has blips...everyone has whoopsies...Please don't be too hard on yourself.

I had a £50 whoopsie yesterday (make that £55) which I have like no way of gleaning back pre DFD unless I cut back (intend to) so that's like a real straightjacket for three weeks but I will only do it short term as I know how hard it is for me to do long term right now :(. Wish I could but still (the question always in the back of my mind is - could you live on JSA - which is always a concern)...that's what I base my frugal calculations on. It sounds harsh but I feel it's necessary as no one's job/benefits is secure these days.

I have to say - right now I couldn't live on JSA :(. Not even without debts (£400)....

So yeah please don't beat yourself up hun cos we aren't...

    Hugs

Best of luck for the new job. If this goes as well as we hope then we'll have another reason to celebrate on 31 July! Wooh! x
