Nielsen Android Panel - Nokia Lumia 800 invite

I too got accepted. I was in two minds whether to go for it though. I have had my Nokia N8 for just under a year now and some of the hardware which I enjoy seem to be missing from the Lumia. For instance I will be trading a 12mp camera for a 7mp and I don't think there is an FM transmitter either which is useful for streaming music over the car radio. I also think the windows Lumia doesn't do flash yet so youtube videos will be a no-no.
However I took the plunge as I'm frustrated with the Symbian operating system as it, on my phone at least, has been sluggish and error prone. For instance the "social" app is anything but as it fails to load more often than it does. Also since the Anna update my push mail has been sporadic.
So I decided a phone that is slick but with less features may suit me better than the feature packed phone that struggles to work!
Another thing that swung it for me was that I hoped by doing this panel I might be considered for future phone panels too. Has anyone here been offered multiple phones over time or is it only one phone per person?
1. Nokia has got 8mp camera not 7mp, but very inferior to the N8 camera
2. Nokia Lumia has got full flash support.
hope this brings a little more cheer to you :beer:0 -
Have you double checked your spam folders?
I didnt think I was in with a chance and was gobsmacked when I got the email. As much as they said first come first served I wonder if they still want a broad spectrum for example I am not on the android panel I am on this one
Oh yeah .. I checked my spam too. I m on android, maybe that's the difference.0 -
If it's like a lot of other surveys, they will have slightly over-invited to make sure they fill the places - once they hit the target, they might do a further sift to make sure they have a good spread of the demographic groups they want to hit - so it could be that some people registered quite early but *later* than other people in the same demographic group (Women aged between 35-50 for example) and so missed out that way.0

Couple of quick tips - if you want to transfer music or phones from your pc onto this device, you want this software, so you can get it now and set it up. Also if you don't have a hotmail/live account, I believe you'll need one to access the windows phone market (plus your skydrive - 25gb of storage), so you might as well that set up.0

You also need that for software updates apparently (!!!!!!... even Apple do OTA updates now, what gives?).0

Yes, that's right.
Another way to deal with photos - if you use windows live gallery, you can select to upload to your skydrive (option on the top right of the live gallery software) and as long as you use the same hotmail account on both, the photos will accessible via your phone (any phones you take on your phone will be backed up on the skydrive automatically I believe).0 -
Had my invite, been accepted, and filled in the pre-delivery survey. Any idea how soon we'll get the phones?
Really concerend about moving away from Android; everything is with googleBeen on android now for 2 1/2 years.

Same, but you'll be able to use Google with WP as well, you just set your account up as exchange and it will handle the calendar, contacts etc.0
