Yeh, I've fitted a little girl about to start school in a size 1. That was a nightmare to get something not too clunky and grown up for a 5year old!Official DFW Nerd No 2750

But its not Clarks Shumagic.
It will be another brand.
Made by the same company but to a different specification.Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
I switched from Clarks to Hushpuppies for my children.
DD has very "shallow" feet, and Clarks didn't provide extra insoles as standard. With the Hushpuppies, there was a choice of three different insoles, each of a differing depth, to get a really good fit.
I also found that Clarks didn't last particularly well in comparison to the Hushpuppies.
I would really recommend Hushpuppies.0 -
I've always bought Startrite or Clarks for my DD. She is coming upto 12 now and an adult size 6. She would like more fashion shoes but has a very narrow foot - C fitting so she is stuck with boring lace ups.
Over the years I've generally found that DD will outgrow her shoes before wearing them out. Startrite I would say are the hardest wearing, but they are expensive. I was paying about £40 a pair 6 years ago. Clarkes are very good for exchaning shoes and I took back her school shoes last October. I bought them in August ready for school but one shoe wore really badly. The sole was peeling, the heel was very very worn down. DD isn't heavy on shoes and her DF loving polishes them for her - to her horror I might add!! As I had paid £40 I expected better quality and they changed them no problem.
I haven't found Clarkes trainers any harder wearing and haven't bought them for a few years now and when I did it was usually sale ones.
We are starting to move more into fashion shoes now and DD wants to wear her Dolly shoes to school, even though she can barely keep them on her feet and has to walk a mile to school. Typical female, fashion over comfort:rolleyes:~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I do buy Clarkes shoes for my 2 to wear to school, all other shoes/trainers/boots are normally cheaper pairs. Mind you, my son is very hard on shoes, and his Clarkes ones are looking very scruffy at the moment, but they still fit, and arnt letting in water, so they will do, just need extra polish!!!
One thing i will say - my mum always bought us Clarkes shoes when we were growing up (it was so exciting going and having our feet measured on their special foot measurer!!) but my Uncle, who actually worked for Clarkes (so wouldve got a discount on any shoes they bought) NEVER bought their shoes for his children, so makes you wonder if all the fuss around them is worth it!!!0 -

Shows brainwashing works!!
Sorry, don't want to offend, but that is utter tosh! Shumagic is Shumagic! you are paying for the Clarks name and nothing else.Clarks rely on their good name to allow them to charge more for their products,it obviously works,I know you work for Clarks,so therefore would endorse their products, but there is no difference in the spec, just the packaging. Our customers certainly couldn't find a difference, neither did the rep!
The whole Clarks thing is about the fitting experience, you come away with the confidence (You think) that the shoes fit properly, when you go to Brantano for example, there is no fitting service so you buy shoes that could be too small/big,we all know that kids will say something is fine if they really like it,it's only when they have worn something a couple of days they will say 'these hurt!' then it's your fault for buying the wrong size, with Clarks you can go back and they will change them.
But I still won't pay the extraDebt at highest £102k

How much cheaper is shumagic elsewhere? I'm going into town anyway where our Clarks is and I need to make a trip to the cobblers anyway. I don't really want to make a seperate trip to the outlet but I will if the price difference is significant.
ETA -I bought it in Clarks in town. I couldn't face another shopping trip with DD!! Cost £2.50, but there was a sale of other colours beige and a pinky/purple colour for £1. Put it on DD shoes and WOW what a difference. You can't tell she had scuffed them. Thanks for telling me about this peeps. Will def buy this each time I get the kids shoes in future, and just for research next time I am at the outlet I'll find out the price for Quackers!0 -

S'ok - takes a lot more than that to offend me
Its not that I'm brainwashed - I was told all the information from the man who works at punch. They are the company that makes the products for Clarks. I wasn't told this by Clarks which is why I dont mind shouting about it. I obviously would endorse their product but I. like many others, will happily shop around for cheaper products. I haven't purchased shoes for my 12 year old daughter from Clarks for about 3 years!
I've met the rep from Punch a few times and he certainly knows his stuff. He has worked for them for many many years. He told us that Clarks pay more to have their products made to a higher spec. I understand where you are coming from - I know someone who packs kiplings cakes from the same batch into various packagings :rotfl:Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0
