Merry Christmas all
Well... moneywise it's not great. But it could also be a whole lot worse.
The total debt is slightly worse than last month and the net status a bit better. It's all a bit of a mess thanks to the unplanned extra train tickets and things like Christmas Eve shopping not showing up yet. So I will revisit it later in the month. I did also buy clothes this month which I had been looking for for ages.
Aside from moneysaving, I am having a lovely peaceful Christmas. I don't at all regret having decided to spend it on my own again, I have had a fantastic few days sleeping and reading and eating good things (reasonably healthy ones too). And thinking about the things I would like to happen in the New Year. I've seen friends and been on the phone to family but am much much happier than I would have been if I was chasing around the country with billions of other hassled people.
I feel very much refreshed already and am glad that I've taken the extra few days off work. I will get onto the practice tests shortly but it's done me the world of good to have some nothing-time.
I have some Christmas money and vouchers which I am thinking of spending on clothes, as one of my goals for next year will be too feel better dressed. I need a new bed and mattress, but am also thinking of moving so that can slide down the priority list for a while.
This month shouldn't be expensive as everyone else will be skint lol - for once my situation is not particularly bad as having the gifts money pot really helped. So that's progress.
Oh and there is finally an Android version of my bank's online app so have downloaded that and hopefully it will help me keep better tabs on my spending.
Back to the books and chocolate now

I'm good, having loads of time off - mainly because I have *loads* of holidays left. When are you back at work?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

That would be the eejit who clicked all the way through and bought an advance ticket for the wrong day. And didn't realise until 2 days beforehand.
Fortunately I only had to pay to change it, which worked out about half the cost of having to buy a new one at that point.I'm good, having loads of time off - mainly because I have *loads* of holidays left. When are you back at work?
I have plenty of leave too - very weird feeling and will be even odder when I get a new allowance and don't have any exams to use it on.This is one of the reasons I think I finally need to get a life in 2013.
I'm back at work the day after New Year, but it should be OK - think I've finally got some decent help so can get on with interesting things instead of dull repetitive ones.

What was the thing with the shopping? Were you having it delivered?RosaBernicia wrote: »I have plenty of leave too - very weird feeling and will be even odder when I get a new allowance and don't have any exams to use it on.
I have about a month to take off between now and April... :whistle:RosaBernicia wrote: »This is one of the reasons I think I finally need to get a life in 2013.

Shoes gone
debating whether I can be bothered with the hassle of trying to get them online which may of course mean I'm not that bothered.
Paid in Christmas cheque, and popped into M&S to try and get a credit note for a couple of gifts I won't use. I felt a bit guilty about it but no sense tripping over things for weeks and then taking them to the charity shop... and felt much less guilty when it turned out one of them was so old it was no longer on their processing system! So that's an extra fiver to use on food or cookware or something.
Bought a gilet in the Fat Face sale and haven't taken the label off as still trying to decide about it. I had to get a size SIX to get one that didn't look gigantic - how ridiculous is that! Anyway part of me says I won't really wear it that much but the rest is arguing that it's a fab colour, rather cosy and could go with yoga pants to keep me warm and the heating off around the house.
Treated myself to a face pack in Lu5h as I was using a Christmas pressie voucher - I don't normally get them but am beginning to think I need a bit of extra pampering.
Oh and having realised that I need a platter for serving roasts/ joints etc, I have been very good and ordered one from Tatco Direct - free delivery and a whole £1.47 to pay as I used up my pointsThis is why I stick to white crockery - dead easy to mix and match and needn't look as cheap as it actually is
Still haven't done my practice tests though so must do at least one before bed.
Debating going to yoga tomorrow - it's £7 but I could save half of that just by having ordinary coffee at friend's instead of meeting her in the coffee shop...

OMG. Just tried first practice selection test as found one online... decent score, but not easy and they don't tell you what the pass score is
So will be swotting properly now.
But, like a good MSE'er:A I have ordered practice books from the library instead of Amazon. Since for once I have left myself over a week to prep. This is the new relaxed me

Hey Rosa, your Xmas sounds very much like my post Xmas - I was manic right up until Xmas day and then have done little but sleep and mooch around the house. Shame about the shoes - I actually prefer ordering online, that way I know there's less chance anyone has tried them on, and for places like Office that don't accept returns for sale items if you buy instore, you can still return (free) if you order online. It's a bit of a pain trying to find free delivery codes etc but overall I still think it's worth it.
Going to be a little devil on your shoulder now but I'd say keep the FatFace gillet. I bought 2 coats in their 1/2 price sale last year (well actually ended up at 4 by the time I'd bought one, bought it again when it went down in cost, then bought two others in diff colours)
I was only going to keep one overall because I thought the two were a bit similar but OH persuaded me to keep both (one grey down lined hooded jacket that wasn't michilin man style, and one green parka style jacket). Well I'm glad I did because i've worn both of them tons - and although I haven't worn the down one so much this year as it hasn't been so cold, it will do me for years and is like a toasty duvet when on.
Sorry...waffling on your thread nowHappy Christmas and Happy New Year x
