Having another definite 'and breathe' moment.

Just checked my tickets to print them all out and realised I've booked one on the wrong flaming day. Going to try and change it tomorrow but it's probably £55 completely wasted and another £100 to get another ticket. I can't really cancel as have made arrangements with other people, mind you one of them hasn't got back to me yet. Sigh.

Spent all day at work doing the headless chicken and really stressed as I had to terminate somebody's contract today. Turned out she wasn't exactly surprised, and at least doing it today means it made some personal situations easier for her, but it meant I had to deal with all the awkwardness as the people who actually get paid for that level of hassle were all out.

And then Tatco helpfully didn't have either the cat food I needed, or unbelievably, more than one type of Christmas wrapping paper. I raided M&S for the paper but am still stressing and haven't managed to pack or eat yet - I got in the shower to leave time for my hair to dry and then had the ticket trauma followed by phone call to parents to explain. Have also had to explain to parent that I don't think sending belated birthday presents to former in-law via the relative divorcing them is exactly tactful :wall:

Oh and I had a letter from the estate agents telling me to get out... unless of course my landlord has said otherwise, which he has. Not dealing with it til I get back.

I guess at least I realised about the tickets now and at least I am lucky enough to be in a situation where even the extra £100 is an annoyance and hampering progress rather than a real disaster.

Am so glad I have a couple of days out and some good books. I also finally got all my music sorted on Amazon and put on my phone yesterday so will have that on the journey :)

And now I really am going to grab some oatcakes and go to bed.

  • Well just popping by to say I had a fabulous time and it was brilliant to get away.

Am not adding up the money damage yet but know it involved £45 to change the ticket (which was still an improvement on £95) and about £100 worth of clothes. Which I don't feel bad about as they were all things I did need, love and will wear. Only had to buy one meal out in the end so that wasn't too bad either.

Raided Sainsbugs tonight which was a further £45 damage but was all sensible things. Mainly needed cat food - the moggies are being switched to Butchers Classic as I'm fed up with the hassle of getting Bozita delivered and am not sure the extra quality justifies the double cost.

Have to do job application tonight and am fed up with this flat being cold. So may well get into my pjs shortly and use the laptop in bed. One of those emergency pies is for tonight as I didn't get stuff in to cook, as I thought I'd be in the city tomorrow. Fortunately I'm not :j so am let off a 7 am train and associated hassle.

  • Well December is lovely so far... and managed to only spend about £35 when friends came for the weekend so that was much better than expected.

I've also just booked my graduation gown hire and photos... I considered not going until the barstewards left me off the invite list and having hounded them down to get it sorted, I bluddy well am going now :p. £50 for gown hire and £25 for the cheapest photo option (ie just me in silly hat x 1 copy). It's had to go on the credit card but as it looks like I will be having a quiet January hopefully I can clear it off pretty soon. As I have no idea when they stop accepting bookings and don't want the day to involve any more hassle than necessary, I thought I'd just book now.

Part of the reason January will be quiet is that I've got onto the first round of the job applications I put in for. So psychometric testing in early Jan  and if I pass that then will be frantically swotting for interviews in Feb. Not banking on any of it but would be silly not to at least try.

I will have to face up to the credit card on payday but am just muddling through til then and really really looking forward to having time off. Even if I am going to spend most of it practicing psychometric tests online :rotfl: (must try to look sane... :D)

Makes you wonder how you fail those...

Depends if that's what the company wants...
