    Grrrrrr TFIF.

Am fed up of moany people at work. I finally have some back-up so I can move on to more interesting things, but the bad news is my lovely manager is leaving in a couple of months :( . Have had a grumble from someone today about asking them to check with me before taking on things that aren't their job and was told how unfair it was that they had to do it in the first place... yeah, because I was the other side of a door and you have my mobile number

I think it's soon going to be time to tidy the CV and start looking for other options.

    MSE :)
Took lunch to work again, so NSD

    MSE :/
Little mog needs vaccs 3 weeks apart, so taking her to the vet tomorrow. £60 :(

    MSE :(
    Can't think of any :)

Should be a fairly cheap weekend as just doing a bit of stock-up shopping and seeing a couple of friends for coffee. I have a new book that I've wanted for ages :j so will just have a quiet one reading and finishing up sorting moggies. Then a week off organising and at the end of the month it's the big Paper Cull.

  • Hi Rosa,

belated congratulations on the MSc, that's fabulous news! I've been lurking but not posting.

Also, thrilled that you get kitty no.2 :j as well as kitty no.1  it's worth the settling process to see them happy and growing in confidence :)

I'm glad you are enjoying things on your own terms a bit more, booooo to work but I'm sure you'll find a way through now things are less emotionally cluttered for you now.

    Allez!

    Thanks LionHeartedGirl :A

Especially for the reminder about moggie. I was getting a bit fed up as it felt like all I've done this week is clean litter trays... but little mog was delighted when she ventured into the bedroom and found me last night... she was purring away and patting the duvet to see my face :) . She and big mog are both curled up on the bed now which is pretty good considering she's been here less than a week... though this is probably because the heater is on in the bedroom :D. I have to confess she has been much harder work than big mog, partly because it's taken her longer to settle compared to him (he had a lot longer as a house cat, and was basically delighted to go back to it) and the job of sorting out her coat. She is still a bit stinky and has mats on her back end but is an awful lot better than 6 days ago.

  • I am contemplating letting mine on the bed to see if that settles them, but am cautious as that way trouble lies. They already take up most of a three person sofa, so there won't be much bed for me! And should I find a gentleman caller on my quest... well that would result in huffy pooches.... never a good thing. Bit different with cats :D

One of them did find their way up the stairs last week - was very funny but a bit of a surprise to hear then see her staring me in the face while I was in bed!

My old boy settled in very quickly. My girl this time had been in a home before, but is such a nervy little thing and is so sensitive to the slightest little thing going on. The 'new' boy is much more laid back and only gets upset if he thinks 'she' is taking up his cuddle time. Bless his little (35kg!) paws. It's worth it though.

My boy had a dreadful coat when he first came to me. I look at pictures of him when I first met him and it breaks my heart now. He really was a bag of bones with a very sad face and a very flea bitten old jumper for a coat. Put it this way, he fell/jumped in the pond the first week he lived with me, and smelled better when he came out!

Now he's glossy as a glossy thing and very handsome. I'm sure once your new girl has her paws under the table, it will show in her coat :) :T
  • LOL yes moggies are rather easier and if I have a visitor they will just have to move. They sleep on the other side from me most of the time anyway 'cos I fidget :rotfl:

Big mog's coat has totally changed in three months, when he came it was a bit thin and brownish, his white bits were yellow and his tail looked ratty halfway down. Now he's all handsome and glossy with a fabulous thick coat. It is one of the things that encouraged me to take the little mog as I knew her coat could probably be fixed. She already looks and smells a whole lot better for some brushing, and I think she'll also probably regrow a better coat in a couple of months. I must remember to email the shelter as the lady there specifically asked me to update them on her - I think she was very fond of little mog.

Is it greyhounds you have? A friend wants a lurcher and I am probably going to be primary dogsitter :)

  • yes they are greyhounds, rescued from an RGT kennel. My family had lurchers when I was at home, when my ex hubs and I adopted the old boy we'd been looking for a whippet but they are harder to find. Knowing ex racer greyhounds as I do now, I don't think I'd have anything else any more.

If she is looking for a rescue, have a look at greyhoundgap.com - there is a forum there that lists lots of sighthounds (so greyhounds/whippets/salukis/lurchers plus any combination of the above) needing homes. Don't click at that time of the month though, you will cry buckets!

Not sure if you will have it/them at yours, but do watch them with the cats if you do! :D
  • Oooh thank you I will forward that link. :A

Friend only lives round the corner so I would probably desert the moggies for a few hours rather than mix them. I know hounds aren't usually good with smaller furries :( which is a shame as all the ones I've met have been lovely and I would also seriously think about one when I can have a dog.

Hey Rosa, in my experience mogs are very good at putting pooches in their place  Glad kit #2 is settling well, it took our second one (now only kit :() longer to settle, partly as she was a young stray and partly because mog #1 was already in situ. However she did choose to come to us (or at least mog #1's food bowl) so she must've seen something she liked. Since we've moved and she's been the only kit we've had a no bedroom rule...she's currently curled up in the spare room on a blanket :rotfl::rotfl:

  • Little mog has retreated behind the sofa after vet trip and is not speaking to me :( not even chirruping back like when she first arrived.

She's had her first vacc, a thorough check over - though I notice the vet wouldn't have checked her ears if I hadn't asked - and had stuff poured into her ears and massaged to loosen a lot of horrible black gunk (vet reckons from a previous ear mite infestation). Which was probably what was making her wash one ear and twitch every two minutes last night. And they've confirmed she is a bit too skinny.

She's come out to eat a bit of a tuna pouch but gone back again. Hoping she will feel more sociably by tomorrow but am supposed to do the ear thing twice a day for a week :( poor scrap, it's going to undo a lot of her settling. They want her back for a check-up in a week but I don't think I'll take her unless she still has symptoms as she'll be back for another vacc the week after and clearly the trip rather knocks her sideways.

  • MSE :)
    not much to report

    MSE :/
Bought flea stuff at the vets as it was on offer and cheaper to buy 6 pack. Not inclined to do them every month as really don't believe it's necessary and especially not at £10 a pop, but will work out a compromise schedule. Will pick up worming tablets next time.

    MSE :(
£135 vet bill for vacc course and flea stuff. They had better have a good few cheap months coming up because the pair of them have cost me hundreds recently!
