    • NSD yesterday apart from donation for moggie2, which was planned.
    • Forgot I had £100 due from Quidco - not paid yet, but should come through fairly soon.
    • Already made lunch for tomorrow, and will try to make dinner as well without buying anything.
    • Hopefully NSD tomorrow as well - will be placing an order, but it's invoice so doesn't have to be paid til next month.
    • Have survived four whole days without actual chocolate. Admittedly have biscuits instead, but this is still unusual.

    MSE :/
    • Will be making trip north in December. This means expensive train tickets. OTOH... am thinking of adding a fun day to the duty family trip so could use some of my holiday fund.

    MSE :(
    • Also forgot I need two fillings... £200 worth. Going to book dentist for the end of Nov and put on CC, then cover with Dec paycheque.
    • Realised it's very unlikely I'll need the cat litter I ordered ... there's plenty in the previous bag, shoulda checked. Moggie2 already wants to go outside asap so I don't think she'll be using the tray a lot after her 3 weeks indoors, and mog1 already doesn't. Ah well, it's only £13 and it's not something you want to run out of!

How expensive is expensive? The railways are forever going on about their £17 London to Edinburgh fares.

According to the Met Office you can use it as a de-icer. Though that's something I'm very dubious about. You certainly can carry it in your boot though and it will press your tyres down into the snow.

Haven't found one that cheap yet. Am considering flying, but it will take about 3/4 of the time anyway, be more hassle, and cost more.

 am not sure they've thought this through. Do they know there are different kinds of cat litter?! The one I use is 'clumping' so it soaks up water and turns to jelly... not entirely sure this would help!

Try splitting at Sheffield. Don't ask how I know these sorts of things...

Assuming it is a derivative of Fuller's Earth, the clay marginally reduces the melting point of water - hence what they say.

It depends on how cold it gets though. You can forget -10C for sensible amounts of kitty litter.

Hmm, they should really say that... the one I use is basically crumbs of sawdust and wood pellets are quite common too.

I would just try it yourself and see. Remember this is the Met Office who a few short years ago were issuing forecasts of a warmer than average winter - shortly before a bunch of brass monkeys started talking falsetto...

The shelter is a local independent no-kill one and I think they're just swamped - you're right she would just have gone outside the tray if it was too bad and with 6-8 cats to a shed that probably happened. They also wouldn't have time to sort her coat - once they knew I'd offered to take her they made a start on it, so she has a clear black stripe down her back and faded gingery fluffy tats on the sides! She's going to be rather pretty once she's sorted though. It's a bit of a shame as she'd been there a year and I suspect people just either didn't meet her because she's shy, or thought she was ugly because of the messy coat. Still, at least she's still here - some shelters would have given up on her.

Oh and she says 'mrrrp' 'prrrrrr' which I'm guessing translates as a thank you for the cuddle :)

Ahh, poor wee thing. I think some people are put off by long haired cats too as they think they'll be hard work and leave fur everywhere but so long as you keep on top of the grooming, I believe they actually tend to moult less than some short haired cats.

Sounds like she's settling in well, actually she's doing great given you also have another cat. She's lucky to have found suck a lovely forever home. x

She's technically short haired - they debated putting her down as domestic semi long hair but decided short! but just has a lot of fluffy undercoat and I think that's what looks shaggy. The pet care board have just insisted on a photo so there's one on the thread over there asking about dematting.

She and big mog have touched noses a few times and are kind of tactfully ignoring each other but I notice he seems to have lost the staring contest despite being about 3 times her size :rotfl: he's such a soppy thing :)

Took lunch to work (last night's leftovers) and did not buy chocolate :)

    MSE :/
Just spent £63 in Wa1tro53... am not safe to be let out :rotfl:
OTOH that did include a bag of frozen chicken breasts, supply of sweeties and stuff for work lunches. Am still doing quite well at not buying sandwiches and having coffee instead of chocolate in the afternoon - does make life cheaper. Must remember to do my work expenses tomorrow as I have a couple of taxi receipts from the conference, quite apart from all the ones from previous months.

Also spent a bit more effectively on the moggies - they are costing me a fortune this month but they're worth it :) . Their new 'house' (aka kennel) arrived yesterday and I put it together in about a half hour - really nice design and straightforward instructions. It was recommended to put some kind of wood preserver on it though, so picked up some teak oil and a brush from Waitrose today and have given it a coat already. The flat stinks but it won't be for long. Also got baby scissors for trimming little mog's tangles and have made a bit of a start.

Must remember to send back Monsoon thing tomorrow - it's been sitting on the table for a week.

    MSE :(
can't think of anything which I guess is good!
