I know you've taken them back now but if you use a good suede protector spray and 'clean' them on the odd occasion with a little suede block then suede can last just as long as leather (assuming you don't go tramping through fields in them) I've got a pair of boots OH bought me about 10yrs ago still going strong, and had my Uggs for 4yrs now too.
Thanks Kerri, I'll try that if I do end up with a new pair. Mainly I've found that the physical wear means they end up with shiny patches, so have been sticking to leather. Mind you, after the disgustingly expensive R&B ones last year fell to bits already, that's not a foolproof plan either :mad:Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

They may think they're like that all the time. All you need is the floozy and the time-waster and you'll have a standard office...RosaBernicia wrote: »Some nasty instant filth that doesn't even smell like proper coffee. What on earth is the point of coffee without the roasty smell?
Sometime you need something liquid, brown and caffeinated to offer to unwelcome visitors to the office, as opposed to diarrhoea which is decaffeinated."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Moving swiftly on from Z and his brown caffinated liquid alternative dor diarrhoea....
As a lady with short but *ahem* sizable calves, I swear by Duo boots - not cheap, but then what boots are?! And I find they last. My current pair is over 5 years old and the leather still looks new despite the fact that I tend to wear them all through the winter.

Boots might not be cheap, but if you get a good pair (R&B ones clearly excluded from this) they end up better value than cheap shoes that get a wear once or twice (excluding my primarni sandals that have had two 'summer's wear and still staning - for £6). OH bought me some Red or Dead boots last Sept for my b'day, £120 :eek: but worn loads and still going strong. http://fashionfinder.asos.com/womens-Red-or-Dead/Red-Or-Dead-Joss-568720

Yes, I know...some people always insist on the "real thing".Knitting_Nora wrote: »As a lady with short but *ahem* sizable calves, I swear by Duo boots - not cheap, but then what boots are?! I have a pair that I wore when I was 18. They're steel-toed with a petrol/diesel/electric/oil resistant sole. I've even been swimming in them, just in case anyone thought I have been soft on them. It's actually the insides that have worn the worst - the leather is still pretty decent, even over the toe which tends to get hammered a bit.
Buy steel toed boots ladies - you know they make sense...Boots might not be cheap, but if you get a good pair (R&B ones clearly excluded from this)
Expensive is not necessarily good. That's the lesson from that."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Thanks Nora - I looked in Duo a couple of years ago as I have the opposite problem and need to avoid the 'Welly Effect' lol (guaranteed to completely undermine even the sexiest of boots). Might try them again, in fact I think they have a showroom in the city and I have to go in for a meeting in a couple of weeks.

Absolutely - when I've had good pairs they've done at least 3 years despite being worn solidly for about 4 months and occasionally for another 4. Just need to find the right ones...

:rotfl: I haven't had a pair of steel caps since I was at uni. They are marvellous for wearing in crowds though

I don't need them for that. I just scowl. The waves part and a little oasis of space appears..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
