Definitely benefits to not having a catflap - it does stop the neighbours from coming in & sprawling all over the sofa when out at work.

The neighbours cat that is, not themselves :D

Oh darn - having contortionist neighbours could be a laugh :D

You could have them sneak into Goblin's house and rearrange things...

Hmm, really must email landlord about cat - and now that it has finally stopped raining I should be able to get out in the garden tomorrow.

Money update... downside - this month's payoff was a bit ambitious, have cut it back by £50 so won't knock quite so much off the overdraft. Upside - I seem to be planning and tracking better, and buying a full tank of fuel at a time means it's done for the month, instead of topping up and then worrying about having to get more or running it right down to the fuel light and worrying about that instead. Going into town less is also helping as it keeps me away from random temptations - so far am stocking up for two weeks with stuff and going to try and get it down to once a month in the centre. Not least because of the crowds in summer - today was so grumpy had to get out of there regardless of what else might be in the shops.

The gifts account was looking surprisingly healthy at already £83, probably because of a gap in birthdays etc... and when I listed what would be needed between now and Christmas it looked to more than cover everything (about £280, I don't buy for many people as have a small family). Then I realised that I don't need quite that much now that Gran is not with us any more :(. So I've used £17 of that money to send a Tesco delivery to a friend in need - thank you for that inspiration, Kerri DFW :A. (Same friend I sent money for cat food at Christmas - she's still feeding the stray and wants to adopt him but is worried about the costs of feeding him as she's on DLA. On Monday she should receive 4kg of the cat food he likes and some of her favourite chocolate.) I figure Gran would definitely approve of that use of the money and I will keep the transfers at the same level so that I can do exactly this kind of thing or make donations when there's some extra building up.

I also transferred £9 to the current account to cover buying an extra bathmat and hand towel for the bathroom, so that they can be swopped every week and flung in the wash with everything else - will be getting onto my FlyLady zones this coming week :)

My phone contract runs out in July and I have now confirmed the date with the supplier, so will make a note to give them my 30 days notice mid June. Then I shall unlock it and try out GiffGaff instead, which I hope will save me about £20 a month.

The extra books I've found for Amazon aren't worth selling unless I can make a profit on the delivery, so will have to go look at the RoyalMail website and get the scales out.

And I finally managed to get 2 mins at work to ring the local council about proof of being on the electoral roll - that should be on its way for me to scan and send on to N0ddle - so hoping it will help my credit rating and open up some better balance transfer offers.

Mr MSE, you are my hero :heartpuls:money::heartpuls

Just went through the credit checker and realised I hadn't told the mobile phone company I moved, which won't have been helping the credit scoring. Now updated together with one last direct debit and have checked all my other direct debit co's have been told.

Am intending to close my accounts with NW asap after payday, as I can pay off the card and the other accounts are already at zero. (They gave me so much hassle when I needed to change the address I'm not going to use them any more.)

The next target will be the small OD, which I can get rid of in two months. When the money from Gran's estate comes through, that will clear the bigger one so that should also be gone soon.

Have been debating whether it's better to keep the ODs within their interest free zone and pay the money off other debts, but think I'd rather clear them so I feel it's done and they look clear on the credit report.

    It's water. You're waterproof. Honestly.

Don't be tempted by Randoms. They aren't worth it.

Two things... one, it's likely he will say no. This means I will have to accept that this flat is not what I want in the longer term. Not a disaster, I am kind of considering it a transition anyhow. (And hoping it will be a good decluttering funnel). Two, rather ridiculously, the idea that if he says yes I really ought to then get a cat asap. Am working on my Thing about 'Said It, Therefore Must Make It Happen'.

Something is Afoot. (And not just the things attached to A Leg.)

    Several things, actually.

I posted a while ago that I signed up for monthly subs to the pole class, then didn't go for a week. BUT, I didn't beat myself up over it, decide I was clearly useless therefore subconsciously avoiding it, decide I was just lazy, or drag myself there one night when already overloaded.

In fact I just bought a couple of outfits for it and decided I'd go after the Bank Hol week.

When Drama Queen texted, fb messaged and emailed to offer a get-together this weekend, I declined spending a whole afternoon with him in case he was in the middle of a drama, and declined going out in town when I didn't really want to.

Instead we went out for drinks locally on Friday, so I've now seen the local bar. It's rubbish btw, but we had a good time and I didn't give up time I wanted for other things. What's more, I didn't tell myself off for not wanting to go out in town and missing the possibility of meeting men - not least because I would have been with a pack of gay guys, and after trying the local bar I think I've been reminded why internet dating may actually be a good idea. (And I've emailed somebody to get a copy of a recent photo I like and might use on the sites.)

I haven't done a thing with the allotment...

... and have stopped worrying about it. The worst that can happen is they ask me to leave, and the way things currently stand that would lose me £20 and a rhubarb plant.

I've just had a phone conversation with my mother about organising a get-together with my aunt and cousin...

... I said nothing about going up north any time soon, thanked her for offering to pay for the hotel, and suggested that we could meeting up halfway between homes after my project is handed in.

I was supposed to be working on my project today, and turned down invites for a walk with friends and also from Drama Queen to do so. I haven't done a thing on the project.

But I have caught up on sleep, realised that I hadn't felt great this last week, and realised that was probably related to the stress the weeks before. Have eaten properly, done a bit of sorting the flat, and made lunch for tomorrow. Am not going to make myself stay awake til silly o'clock just to say I've done something on the project today rather than tomorrow.

I'm not quite sure what all this is, except Different and Better.

And this would change the real situation in what way?

Before: No cat flap. After: No cat flap.
This means I will have to accept that this flat is not what I want in the longer term.

As opposed to deceiving yourself for longer? Get your crown on Cleo...

How long were you thinking of staying there?

    Yes indeedy.

Ooooooo *sniffs air, meercat style* I sense a change a-coming...

Those are all really hefty 'lines in the sand' you've managed there, missus, and I salute you. I don't care what anyone says, it's damn hard to start to be as considerate of yourself, and your own health and wellbeing, as you are of other people. so well done you! :T
