Keeping your car in reasonable condition will stop it going wrong at the worst possible moment. Everything goes wrong at the worst possible moment. It's a law of the universe.RosaBernicia wrote: »Hm. Unfortunately I have an unreasonably strong back, so can carry quite a bit of weight. A couple of years ago on holiday I was strapping my laptop back to my backpack to carry out to the car to avoid another journey between room and car. One time I forgot to unstrap it when going around one of those "Country House Gardens".

Brass is copper which is bluey-green. It's probably zinc and has "rusted" producing white zinc oxide. Er, Z, neither of those things require concentration, co-ordination, muscle, or doing things that damn well hurt even when you get them rightBefore you put that back, rub it down with oil so it does not seize with rust.
WD40 sufficient? Don't have motor oil as car does so little mileage - it gets switched at service and looks OK in between (well, that's to say it stays pale brown and olive oil-ish consistency rather than turning to black gunk so I have assumed nothing drastic changed).Don't clone your screen. Set up a screen one and a screen two. Move the player to screen two and maximise it.

Small tank, only 35l - it's about what I've always got from the car and the automatic thing reckons its about 47 mpg (petrol). That run was about 40 but it is mostly the ring road to work, so lots of hovering at roundabouts.
She rarely gets a long trip now - I got the train the last couple of times I've gone up north, as now the petrol is so expensive it works out about the same and at least I don't end up wiped out from driving. Also refused to insure the car for work trips this year after being told I'm expected to get the train - fine by me, though usually more expensive for them and means they end up owing me more time.

Have been good and cancelled renewal of web domain names I don't use and probably won't.
A whole tenner, but still money back in my pocket.

Yeah, well done on signing up for the 3mth pole Rosa. I had a fab lesson this week and managed my first shoulder mount - only been learning it for a few weeks and was so suprised that I nearly forgot to grip :rotfl::rotfl:Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Woohooo well done you :T:T
:rotfl: at surprise... pole does seem to be one of those things where I find myself going 'Oh. It actually worked. Um, what goes where now and how did I do that again?' And it's kind of important what goes where, otherwise you fall down... have been trying to explain to friend why pole is so much more interesting than Pilates. Don't seem to have convinced her yet.

Yes, one per screen. But both doing the same thing. That's why they're clones.RosaBernicia wrote: »Which reminded me to look up the latest Golden Bull awards... always worth it. http://www.plainenglish.co.uk/awards/golden-bull-awards/golden-bull-winners-2011.html
I can't complain about that. I went to town using management speak with someone who wanted me to "touch base" with someone. They got a lot of "living document" in return... :rotfl:RosaBernicia wrote: »Small tank, only 35l

Cleopatra?
Now don't tell me you didn't know that one. We all know Cleopatra was Queen of De Nile. *winces even as typing it*Yes, one per screen. But both doing the same thing. That's why they're clones.
*still has possibilities, though was hoping they'd be cloned off the screen...*
I'm impressed now. My car never leaves the ground unless I really floor it.
It's probably helped by all the hot air when I'm explaining to an idiot's taillights that it was completely pointless to undertake me as I slowed for the 'reduce speed now' sign, because the sign is there due to the roundabout just 100m around the (also signed) bend, not solely to frustrate prats in Audis, so he has only ended up in front of me at the lights, an advance of about 4m and possibly 2s. Same applies to the opposite direction when someone sits on my bumper as I'm doing 73 and slowing for the same bend going the other way... then they undertake past me and have to pull up rapidly when they spot the queue of traffic for the other roundabout. *why did they take away the shrugging smiley?*
Sometimes I can understand the inclination to haul people out of a car and explain to them exactly what a twerp they are. Other times I worry I'm turning into my dad. Then I remember that my dad's the worst driver I have ever met, and at least I actually know the rules of the road to complain about other people ignoring them :rotfl:

I usually prefer idiots to over/undertake me and often slow down to let them. That means they are where I can see them, and *I* get to choose the distance of seperation.
Which is usually large at that point.
Best thing is when I'm keeping well back from Idiot A, when Idiot B over takes me on a blind bend. Then tailgates Idiot A and almost smashes into Idiot A because of the extreme "Quality" driving shown by all concerned.
Laugh? I nearly had to call the dry-cleaners in...RosaBernicia wrote: »*why did they take away the shrugging smiley?*
