Thanks :AHave you tried a decongestant?
Might have to get some tomorrow if it's not sorted. Getting fed up of everything sounding either muffled or like I'm wearing one of those crackly 80s cagoules (I hated them even then, used to insist to my parents I'd rather get wet than have to listen to the blasted thing).
How's things in Z-land?

You should have got a parka. Far quieter simply because they didn't move unless you really pushed them.

Ooh Rosa you have a diary, subscribing
I've got a similar landlord to you, his planning permission failed though and it's all gone quiet so I've decided to move out when I'm ready not when he tells me. This means I'm moving out next weekend though
I've moved 11 times now, you soon learn that a house is just bricks & mortar, but a home is all the bits within it.
Good luck with the debt busting.
Stopping boredom... have you considered taking up a craft? Sewing, card making, candle making, etc? I find releasing my creative side really helps.
Can't wait to hear about the burlesque.

Hi Z
Good that things are a little better... and I hope they weren't too bad before? :grouphug: (you can't fool me by failing to give an absolute scale... I have spent far too much time with evidence geeks for that).
Well the cold is still beating the decongestant so far... which led to a rather confused conversation today about baths, which turned out to actually be bats:rotfl:... but other than that, pretty good. It is just ridiculously fab to have TIME again. Slight 'new job' feeling with the new role but it will be fine. Must start getting a bit more organised with my social life though.

Hi Kerri
Funnily enough I saw your post on the 2012 challenge about sewing and remembered that I have a machine now... got one for my last birthday when I realised what people other than my mum charge for making curtains! I haven't had time to use it so think I will change that over the next few months. I've been keeping all my old clothes and any kind of rags to experiment with, and it turns out there's a shop in town who run occasional classes so am now on their mailing list. Would be a suitably frugal hobby to take up and lots and lots of fab possibilities :j
Poledancing tutor has replied so now just waiting on confirmation... I shall report back in a few Thursdays time...
In other debtbusting news... had a very relaxed amble round Sainsburys and got a huge shop but this includes good meat for the freezer and some basics, and should keep me going for well over a week. And I remembered to buy stuff for work lunches. Hopefully that should keep me from making unscheduled supermarket trips and avoid temptation.
I have just ordered a muffin tin though... (a whole £6.66 on offer, and to be compensated for by using my Nectar points which I save for just this kind of homewares moments) and will have a go at making healthy breakfast muffins. A friend of mine does this and I think it's a really good plan - they freeze, so on the days I don't have time for cereal at home I can just grab one and defrost it at work.
This weekend will be expensive in some directions as I'm getting my hair finally trimmed tomorrow - I only trust one salon with it, but on the other hand it only gets done every few months so I figure it balances out :rotfl: and my eyelashes tinted (which is worth every penny as it means I can face the world without mascara and save myself 5 mins on the mornings I don't have it to spare). Going to a friend's for dinner and offered to take dessert etc but he's only asked me to bring a bottle so that's fine. I just hope his cooking has improved
And Sunday will be spent researching a jobs site - but the job would be worth it if I get it and will be escaping for coffee with a mate so all good.

Says Wikipedia...
The definition of geek has changed considerably over time, and there is no longer a definitive meaning. The terms nerd, gimp, dweeb, dork, spod and gump have similar meanings as geek, but many choose to identify different connotations among these terms, although the differences are disputed. In a 2007 interview on The Colbert Report, Richard Clarke said the difference between nerds and geeks is "geeks get it done."[2] Julie Smith defined a geek as "a bright young man turned inward, poorly socialized, who felt so little kinship with his own planet that he routinely traveled to the ones invented by his favorite authors, who thought of that secret, dreamy place his computer took him to as cyberspace—somewhere exciting, a place more real than his own life, a land he could conquer, not a drab teenager's room in his parents' house."[3]
Other definitions include:
A derogatory reference to a person obsessed with intellectual pursuits for their own sake, who is also deficient in most other human attributes so as to impair the person's smooth operation within society.
A person who is interested in technology, especially computing and new media. Geeks are adept with computers, and use the term hacker in a positive way, though not all are hackers themselves.
A person who relates academic subjects to the real world outside of academic studies; for example, using multivariate calculus to determine how they should correctly optimize the dimensions of a pan to bake a cake.
A person who has chosen concentration rather than conformity; one who passionately pursues skill (especially technical skill) and imagination, not mainstream social acceptance.
A person with a devotion to something in a way that places him or her outside the mainstream. This could be due to the intensity, depth, or subject of their interest. This definition is very broad but because many of these interests have mainstream endorsement and acceptance, the inclusion of some genres as "geeky" is heavily debated. Persons have been labeled as or chosen to identify as physics geeks, mathematics geeks, engineering geeks, sci-fi geeks, computer geeks, various science geeks, movie and film geeks (cinephile), comic book geeks, theater geeks, history geeks, music geeks,[citation needed] sport geeks,[citation needed] art geeks, philosophy geeks, literature geeks, historical reenactment geeks, video game geeks, and roleplay geeks.
A more recent school of thought sees nerd as being a derogatory phrase, while geek is simply a description. It is taken to be someone who is an enthusiast, often in things outside of the mainstream spectrum. It may also describe immersion in a particular mainstream interest to an extreme that is beyond normalcy (e.g. sports geek)[citation needed]. Of note is that in this definition, there is no reference to being socially inept in the slightest.[citation needed]
I guess which version a Gleek fits with depends on your opinion of the show
And I notice you still didn't answer the question - so will just send you a (hug) in case needed. You mean like going out for a start?err, yeah. Should probably frame recent post of Lula's about size of wardrobe relative to that of social life.
Like a landing, any meal you can walk away from is a good one...
And fortunately, he has been steered in the direction of fajita kits.

Sooo...
Money update:- £80 for hair and eyelashes - fine as was in budget and she did listen about only trimming the minimum.
- £30 in L*sh - but was all on stock of basics (since I couldn't smell anything, it seemed pointless buying anything new as I couldn't tell if I liked it!)
- £5 for wine to take to friend's last night (A £10 bottle on offer).
- Have avoided buying White Company bathrobe I have been wanting for ages by asking for it as Christmas pressie from parents. It would normally be well over budget for this but I explained that cunning use of 15% off and £10 gift voucher kindly donated by White Company to a very occasional customer plus Quidco cashback reduced it by £25 :j
Other update:- Ears cleared briefly yesterday and hopefully will sort themselves today.
- Still need to sort receipts today.
Plans:- Get onto job application portal and investigate.
- If not already tearing hair in frustration at getting access, ensure break to calm down from anxiety at what they are probably asking. Then enter basics.
- Sort through receipts to extract those for expenses claim and file rest by month/ for shredding
- Ironing
- Do a few more CPD entries. Actually got a whole lot of these sorted the other night while watching QI so might just find a set and tap them in in front of the TV.
- Must get early night as have to be in city for obscene hour of Monday morning.
- NSD - as have plenty of food and not going anywhere (saw friend for coffee yesterday instead as she's away today)
Reporting back later...
