    Of course you should!
And you should do so with a little pep talk on how you have asked her several times now, she has still not paid up and you need the cash quite badly.

Push her embarrassment buttons hard - tell her how disappointed you are that she would keep you - her friend - waiting like this when you only sold the dress because you needed money badly in the first place.
Tell her how disappointed you are that she could keep letting you down like this and that you had hoped she had a little more self respect and dignity than to put a friend through this hassle over £30.

Ask and ask and ask in as many ways as possible - even with anger and public humiliation if it comes to that - and don't stop asking until she has paid up!
  • I'm amazed at this! It sounds like she's dodging the issue, in the hope that you'll just get fed up asking for the money which is rightfully yours. What if she'd sold your car for £3,000? Would you be !!!!!footing about now, being nice, and pleading poverty? Tell her it's your money, and you want it now. If she doesn't hand it over, she's stealing it from you. Friend??
  • If your "friend" has a store which sells dresses, why not ask to try one of them on at home (ensuring it costs much more than the £30 she owes you). Perhaps "forgetting" or delaying to return it might just jolt her into repaying your cash. It is hateful having to ask for something back and nNobody should be put in that situation. Unfortunately, it is usually the lender who is made to feel extremely awkward and a "baddy" for asking. Perhaps the old saying has some merit - "Neither a borrower nor a lender be".

In situations like this it is sometimes necessary to develop a thick skin. Just ask her for it and don't stop until you get it. You are not the one in the wrong here.
    Hope is not a strategy.

I would ask one last time and inform her along with the request that she is making you feel very uncomfortable having to keep asking.

There's no need to keep someone hanging on so long - I would be mortified if someone had to ask me once to pay something back, never mind a few times!
