I'm SO rubbish. I still haven't found stuff to go on eBay!

  • Grrr, just had an email from a buyer on ebay which simply said 'this hasn't arrived' - with reference to a parcel I posted 3 weeks ago. Why wait 3 weeks before saying anything??? Annoyingly, I put something extra in the parcel too as I was worried they'd be disappointed as they'd paid 3 times the original price for it, and surely there's nicer ways of phrasing an email!

  • Yeah, me too Rose... heard nothing since.

Well, I managed to lower our mobile phone tariffs today to £10 a month, so that will save us another £20 a month.

The large item on ebay is also up to £250 now which is £20 more than we paid for it, so anything on top of this will be profit! There's 2 days to go so I'm hoping for good things...

Congrats on the phone tariffs - we're both PAYG here but no-one contacts me at all on my phone these days and so my money lasts for ages. (Makes me sound like a right billy no-mates)

wow, profit all the way, excellent stuff x

  • Ebay item sold for £450 this morning:j, which, after fees and postage, will leave us with about £390. We originally paid £230 for the item, so a nice profit of £160ish. I'd like to say that £160 will be used to pay more money off the credit card which was the original intention, but unfortunately it'll probably have to sit in the bank as we are quite overdrawn. The £230 will go back in to the savings pot for turfing the garden from where it came. Hopefully tht won't cost us the whole amount and some of that pot can be used for other things, but for now, it's reserved for that.

I've ironed and photographed about 15 other items for ebay but was too tired to list then last night. I'll try and get to it in the week.
  • This month we're going to try online shopping weekly to stop us being tempted by stuff we don't need in the supermarkets. Our grocery budget goes out of the window half way through the month and I need to be much more strict and organised. I've made a rough meal plan for the week and ordered what we need for that, plus any essentials that we're low on. I shall continue to buy nappies at asda as I find their own brand very good and well priced.
I have just placed an order for £54 going through mysupermarket first, and found a £10 off code to bring it down to £44 delivered. I'm attempting to keep our grocery budget, including nappies and household items etc., to £200 a month. If we're successful, I'll work on lowering it from there.

Oh, eBay parcel is going to cost a lot more to send than I first thought, I counted for weight but not dimensions. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. We will still be in profit, but by two figures rather than three.
  • eBay parcel has just been picked up (have waited in all day on a lovely sunny day too and they show up 45 mins before cut off time ). It cost £32 rather than the £10 I'd charged the buyer. That'll teach me to look into the finer detail next time.

Washing's done and dried on the line, lovely not to have to use the tumble dryer or have to iron cos everything's creased from it!

Yesterday I sorted another bin bag full of stuff for the charity shop which was picked up yesterday as we had a bag put through the door last week (made sure it was a genuine collection for a local charity first). That's a bit more decluttered. I have also dug a few more things out for eBay and found something else to go in the present drawer. Hopefully I should get the eBay stuff listed at the weekend.

Balance transfer has been done, but there is now a positive balance on the old card of £235 (credit), so I'm going to phone and see if they'll put it in my bank or pay it off the other card.

The garden savings pot now has £230 back in it from the eBay sale and the bank account is no longer overdrawn, but there's not a lot in it! It's payday tomorrow so I'll sort the various savings pots out then. We are paying £80 less in rent/mortgage this month so that will help a bit.

I have bought a new Hoover today though as our old one was pretty useless and, having inherited light carpets in this house, they look a mess and it bothers me several times a day! We really need new carpets but that's unaffordable presently, so a good Hoover is cheaper, especially as it had £200 off, reduced to £79.

We have also bought a new dining table and chairs from an online bargain last week, but it only cost us a very little bit as we sold our other lovely, but too big for the room set, first. It's nothing fancy, but is smaller and round so will hopefully fit our dining room better. The room was previously pretty unusable as you had to squeeze past the table sideways to get in. It was perfect in our last house, but the dining space is smaller in this one. Once it arrives (and is put together!) I intend to get my sewing machine down and start making some bits as gifts and/or to sell. I have material and patterns but no table at the moment!

Ooh, hubby donated lots of shiny £2 coins he was given in change last weekend, so they've gone into the £2 pot. I think there were 4 or 5, so a nice amount to boost the pot!

  • Loan is now at £8708, it actually feels like we may eventually pay it off now that it's well under £10K. I'm feeling more positive about it now.

The credit card balance has had to go up again unfortunately though, but I'm trying not to worry about it too much. We shall pay it off in full when the loan is finished, if we're not able to before.

I'm working this weekend... booo.... especially as it's nice and sunny outside. I'm off next week though and as I get paid overtime, I guess it's extra money, but I'm missing out on trips to the park and feeding the ducks with DS and hubby. :(

We had another shopping delivery from Mr S last night, but it was 99% DS's supplies as there is a good discount on nappies and baby stuff. Unfortunately they sent 3 packs of nappies the wrong size though so DH is taking them back for a refund today as they're out of stock of the correct size. I need to email Tesco this weekend and complain about the products they sent to us in the online grocery delivery this week. Some of the veg was out of date the following day, I had to throw some fruit immediately as it was mouldy and they'd sent completely wrong products which didn't tally with the receipt and, the worst thing, they decided they wouldn't accept the £10 code I entered even though it was accepted online!!! Don't know why I expected anything different from them, unfortunately they came out the cheapest on mysupermarket.
I hate Mr. T, it's a shame that sainsbury's points scheme isn't as good as the clubcard points are useful to us.
  • Thats great news with the loan DFSD.. you really are on the home stretch now!
Shame about the online grocery fiasco..part of the reason i went back to just going myself. Enjoy your week off.
