  • My plan to get things sorted and everything ship shape these next few weeks has hit a stumbling block already. DH has broken bones after a sporting accident yesterday, and will be off work for maybe up to 8 weeks. Marvellous. Also means I'm having to do everything with Ds as he can't lift him or do much. Grrrr...

So, I haven't got a lot done today. I have started the eBay ironing pile, but there's still tonnes to do. I'll try and get through it tomorrow and then start photographing and listing.
  • Ohh that awful about your DH...hope he makes a speedy recovery! Things very rarely go to plan....

  • Well, it's taken me days, but I now have 44 items listed on eBay! Wish me luck!
  • Another terrible night of very little sleep with Ds waking and screaming has not helped my mood this morning, especially as hubby is unable to help due to his injury, grrrrrrrrrrrr...

I've had a few questions about eBay already and a few bids which is promising I guess.

There was a great uk getaway deal on groupon this morning which I was so tempted by, but the resort had mixed reviews and, knowing our luck, we would certainly get accommodation that was poor. Plus, we don't have a spare £156 to pay for it, even though it does sleep six and could be split between friends. Best saving our money and avoiding inevitable disappointment! We could so do with a break at the moment though, every little thing is getting us really down.

    Back to eBay checking...
  • £8 paid from quidco, so going to pay that straight off the credit card now. £30 coming in the next payment run so far, so that will be paid off the card too.
  • Hi DFSD

You are having a tough time of it. Hang in there. As you say, all your money saving efforts add up and maybe when DH is on the mend and things settle down there will be a nice cheap break available.

Taking of breaks, I have had a few not so cheap breaks recently. Not wishing to rub it in, I have had a nice time. Then I looked at my bank balance. It is not a good sight. I will have to be careful for the next couple of weeks until payday comes around again. There isn't a lot of MSing around at the moment, so I might be joining you on Ebay to earn a bit of extra cash. I am in awe of you putting 44 items on Ebay; if I find 4 items worth putting on there I will be pleased.

    Best wishes x

  • Lovely to hear you've had some nice 'time out' lately chocs, glad you've been having fun. Not so nice about the bank balance, but at least it was spent having a good time and not on bills!

As for eBay, 99% of it is baby stuff really. I put 3 extra items on last night as a BIN and they sold within 30 minutes making us about £18.50 after postage. The buyer hasn't paid yet though, nearly 24 hours later, that really irritates me with buy it now's.

Had a pretty rubbish day again too. Both hubby and I are feeling very low and Ds's problems are flaring up again. We went out for a cheap lunch today but it did nothing to improve our mood, unfortunately.

Financially, however, we're doing quite well this month and still have money in the bank account with 8 days to go until payday. That's pretty unheard of for us!
  • Forgot to mention, I found the loan statement a few days ago and worked out that the loan is now under 10k, which is quite positive I suppose.
  • That's great that your loan is under £10k - a nice psychological boost that the balance is a four figure sum.

Are you finding it difficult being home a lot? I know it has its bonuses but I also know it doesn't do a lot for my mood if I stay at home too much. Could you have a pampering day next time DS is at nursery, instead of your usual round of chores? Going for a nice swim/sauna, coffee and cake with a good book, doing your nails etc.

  • Hi DFSD, great that the loan is now under 10k...must feel great! I really hope things improve with DS. Our youngest was up a lot during the night last week and it was really hard...you have my sympathies.
