What is the poll for and why are you doing it? Is it just for your own interest?

To the contrary Hermum, in everybody's interest. as a sort of overall picutre I guess as to the type of service both ebay and pay paypal are providing.

I don't think that you'll get great answers on here.
You'll get the regulars who may give an unbiased response but the vast majority of non regulars pop in purely to ask for advice as they're currently experiencing problems.
  • At least though Hermum an average picture will be built up over time by both buyers and sellers combined which is basically the idea behind it. Naturally any company will get complaints but its the outcome and how the buyer/seller feels they have been dealt with at the end of the day that matters.

Another inherrent problem of not allowing posts is that the poll will dissapear off the 1st page within hours meaning no-one will reply to it anyway. At least with posts being added it keeps it at/near the top of the sub-forum.
  • Thank you for letting me know. Again, I thought the poll would remain at the top.

I do feel sorry for you but you let this happen by not sending the item using suitable service. Then it all escalated because you didn't except responsibility for your actions. I suppose it was all Ebay/Paypals fault?.

Actually, I used International Signed For, but this was tsa few years ago, before I joined MSE, and I didn't know that ISF doesn't guarantee tracking outside of the UK.

Given that my actions were to run the auction, pack the item with care and send it to the winning bidder's address as stated on Paypal, by International Signed For, and keep my POP receipt and all email correspondance with the customer in question, I do take full responsibility for them. So thank you for that last comment, but no, I don't think it's all eBay/Paypal's fault...a lot of it is the customer's fault, which is why i have not spoken with her since...until then, I thought I knew her and could trust her!!

Pretty pointless poll as even if the person is in the wrong if they believe they are right even if they lose a dispute they will never admit they are wrong so they will not be satisfied with the outcome.

All you need to do is look at the amount of threads here when a buyer or seller is in a dispute even when it is pointed out they are wrong they will never admit it.

So not replied to the poll

Even professional pollsters find it very difficult to design a poll that doesn't lead respondents.

My first question was, why do you want to know. What is the benefit of the poll? And who to?
It may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type

    In brief:

Sold an item on eBay and received payment via Paypal. By pure coincidence it turned out the winner was someone I knew personally. I still sent her the item (to her address in the USA as registered on PP). She then claimed INR due to being skint and thinking I wouldn't mind despite me telling her not to do this. I provided POP and also her forum posts (on a different forum) about getting the item for free and still PP refunded her. I ended up losing my eBay account and as I had already withdrawn the money, PP quadrupled the debt and it'll take til I think 2014 for it to be Statute Barred as there is no way on earth I will pay it. So, it's kind of ruined my life as my credit rating is screwed so I can't, for example, go for certain jobs I would otherwise want to, like working in a bank or mobile phone shop, and I also have to have a guarantor for renting a home.
This will, as it stands, in no way affect your credit rating, you do not have a credit agreement with Paypal. Having said that it all sounds a bit fishy, especially when posted on this thread.
