Have you had difficulty resolving problems with Ebay or Paypal?

No offence taken. The poll was not up when I and the other poster replied - had it been and you had asked for no comments with a valid reason, I would have respected that. However, the nature of public forums means that there would have been plenty of people who made comments simply because you asked them not to!SuedeHead69 wrote: »But ultimately its the public who are using both Ebay and Paypal and in order to get a clear picture of the service given by these organisations it really is important not to try to influence others.
For example, you could easily work for either Ebay or Paypal or have interests in trying to persuade others to vote to your way of thinking and that is another reason to allow try to just keep this as a poll only to allow others to express themeselves through a public poll in an unbiased manner.
I ask both you and others to please respect the reasons for this. No offence or attitude intended.
I understand completely where you are coming from regarding having no influence, but a public forum is really not the best place to run a sanitised poll.
I appreciate it is a catch 22 as you need to reach large audiences and a forum like this certainly has that!
Your best bet might be to construct a free survey (Survey Monkey works well) and post a link to this forum asking people to complete it. That way, when completing the survey, they are 'away' from the forum and although there may be comments here, it will be slightly more sanitised than a poll at the top of a thread. You will also be able to construct a series of questions that avoid people selecting multiple options as demonstrated above!0 -
In brief:
Sold an item on eBay and received payment via Paypal. By pure coincidence it turned out the winner was someone I knew personally. I still sent her the item (to her address in the USA as registered on PP). She then claimed INR due to being skint and thinking I wouldn't mind despite me telling her not to do this. I provided POP and also her forum posts (on a different forum) about getting the item for free and still PP refunded her. I ended up losing my eBay account and as I had already withdrawn the money, PP quadrupled the debt and it'll take til I think 2014 for it to be Statute Barred as there is no way on earth I will pay it. So, it's kind of ruined my life as my credit rating is screwed so I can't, for example, go for certain jobs I would otherwise want to, like working in a bank or mobile phone shop, and I also have to have a guarantor for renting a home.0 -
Thanks Lovinit for your advice.
As I newbie I expected to make mistakes but not the type of bullying and comments from you guys as you have. I wrongly assumed that a poll was just that...seperate from public threads etc.
If I could disband this poll I would because whilst I have made mistakes, I have tried to set up this poll with good intentions to try to highlight other peoples problems with both ebay and paypal. We seem to live in a society now where immaturity is thought cool over common sense as Strapped has made clear - so thanks guys for trying to spoil something before it even got started.0 -

To be fair, it was your attitude that ruined it for most. If there was any immaturity shown, it wasn't far from your door. I cannot see any bullying. Even your editing comments were unnecessary.
Any lack of understanding in how this forum and polls work, is not an issue, it was your lack of how human beings work that irked me.0 -

I'm really sorry to hear this mate....it seems to be happening all the time. I really wish you good luck with this because a lot of people are in a similar boat for one reason or another0 -

Well as I said, you can get on with running it yourselves can't you.
I have made mistakes yes, but you - you are really trying to play God.0 -
SuedeHead69 wrote: »No.. there is no need to elaborate
Simply have you or not had problems with either Ebay or Paypal OR both
It's a poll only.
And the multiple choices are very clearly displayed
There are plenty of other links on this board to discuss the merits or problems with both buyers and sellersSuedeHead69 wrote: »Well as I said, you can get on with running it yourselves can't you.

Not sure who is playing God. But someone has an Almighty attitude.0 -
What is the poll for and why are you doing it? Is it just for your own interest?
With the amount of arguments there are on here, the chances are even with discussion there won't be many people swayed by others opinions.0 -

I do feel sorry for you but you let this happen by not sending the item using suitable service. Then it all escalated because you didn't except responsibility for your actions. I suppose it was all Ebay/Paypals fault?.0 -
I asked politely in previous earlier postings if you would all kindly respect others with this poll by not influencing them but you guys really like to cause trouble.
While my original posting as a newbie was not intended to upset anyone even though it has, and I have apologised for that you guys really have behaved totally inappropriately and out of all proportion.0
