I know a black lab called Marmite (but he's a he) and my inlaws have had a couple named after black jazz singers; they had an Ella (fitzgerald) and now have Cleo (laine). Cleo had pups recently with only one girl in the litter, who was going to be called Winnie (after Mandela) but Missy seems to have stuck instead.0

I really believe that when you get puppy home she'll choose her name within a few days. Once you see her character it'll come to you in a flash of light.
Ours are Diego (Dorgi), Clootie (Westie/Jack Russell but Spit the Dog look-a-like) & Tora (JRT & short for toerag).
All took a few days to get named - but boy are they appropriate - especially 1 year old Tora.
But always remember - you have to stand & shout this name in a park/street/beach....... can you see OH shouting for Fifi?Debts 07/12/2021

That's a really good point. I named my two over the course of the 4 hour journey home with them. By the time they were home I was 100% sure I'd got it right.0 -
