Howdy stranger!!
People on here do say that updating their MFW diary on a regular basis does help them stay focused :rotfl:
Good luck with the December 2012 target ~ having the mortgage starting with a 6 would be a brilliant milestone. Hope the decluttering & ebaying is going well ~ it always seems to be free listing weekend on ebay these days!!'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Hi YB, I've lost may way a bit too over the last few months. Our income has been reduced and we have had some expenses as well as spending money on the house. You simply can't do it all can you. I've neglected my diary a little too as without OP's I have little to update. I fully intend to regain my focus though and attack the mortgage!Nov 2025 - part 1 - £13,878 part 2 - £20,953 Total - £34,832 24 months to go!0

Hi both of you.
Well today has been a NSD :j, have attacked the toy room, decluttered, thrown and ebayed 9 items. About to request £4 odd from TCB and pressed the sp button.0 -
Bit of a spendy day yesterday, £2.20 on carpark, £5.30 on train ride at country park, £16 ish on drinks at dinner last night, £6.99 on new washing line stake.
Still positives out of that was we didn't pay for dinner or ice creams and we had a lovely day out!
I'm really going to have to think of a way to up my game where the money making is concerned, I'm just lacking all motivation compared to last year0 -
Been a spendy week this week, but i think all spends have been done now (well hope so).
Sent £100 op today which made up of some extra cash I had received a while ago and was saving for a holiday, and also £4.14 from tcb.0 -
lovely day today, family bbq and that is the official end to the celebrations and money spending. One bid out of nine on ebay and I am going to make a concerted effort to list more tomorrow.
Also managed to declutter a few bits to friends today, and have earmarked a couple of bits that can be sold next week0 -
Way too much spending has been going on lately. All the birthdays seem to come at once in this family, and then we've had some house repairs and also driving lessons to pay for.
Upcoming childcare costs for the summer holidays is going to make me wince, but it has all made me realise that we seriously need to get back on this bandwagon and make a dent into our future.
We are seriously regretting not having a holiday this year and whilst a lot of MFW are happy to go without, we're not so next year we will be booking a week in the sun. Just means we have a little extra work to do to achieve it.
To do today
- check mortgage balance and update signature and spreadsheet.
- list some bits on ebay
- scout around the boards again to seek out some money making ideas.0 -
Hi yukkibear,
Nice to see you on here, like me life is getting in the way isnt it. I have been saving for the new puppy and extra bits that come with it. We are only having a caravan holiday this year due to penny pinching, I used to have tesco points hols in the sun, that was the only way I could afford it and we had 3 great free hols with that. Unfortunately they dont happen these days
I am 40 in 2 years and so I am trying to save each month to have a great holiday abroad but I keep dipping into it
Childcare this summer is a bit weird for me. I am off the first week (good old skeggy holiday), then they are at the dads the second week, have one week of childcare and then I have a week off unpaid and then another two weeks off, I dont know how I have managed it but I am only losing about £60 after saving on childcare, but having this time off to get the puppy settled in.
Good luck with your scouting for ideas, I may have a quick peep at the grabbit board. I need to start getting great offer pressies as I have been slacking in that department this year!MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
EMFD was Feb 32  NOW Dec 2013 its Dec 2016
MF new target Dec 16 REACHED!! :j0 -
Good to see you Pammy. We've got a couple of weeks off between us this summer and I've managed to wangle a few nights with relatives for childcare, so just three weeks to sort. Wont be as costly as it could have been.
I've been number crunching this morning and the amount we ideally need to find to take the balance to £70k by the end of the year is £4554.11 after normal payments have been made. This works out to be around £900 a month which is quite a scary figure so I have done a percentage figure instead and will work towards OP's of £45 which is approx 1% of the balance.
So 100 x £45 here I come.
Some bits ended on ebay this morning without selling sadly, so will list another lot this evening.0 -
Breaking it down into much smaller chunks makes it seem much more achievable doesn't it. I was hoping to get down to 100k but don't see it happening, good luck in getting to the 70l and the 60's! Hope you get some ebay sales, I'm using local selling pages but stuff doesn't always sell.Nov 2025 - part 1 - £13,878 part 2 - £20,953 Total - £34,832 24 months to go!0
