I made the meatballs yesterday, doubled up the quantity, and it made 88 meatballs. Had some tonight, and froze the rest. I didn't make the sauce yet, as we had some liver & onion gravy left from the previous night. I worked out that they cost about £7.20 to make. 4 or 5 meatballs makes a reasonable portion - so I think they aren't too pricey to make. Probably could have bulked them out a bit more with more breadcrumbs.

I need a recipe for what my partner calls 'Ikea food'

The meatballs and the gravy (you have to add cream and water to their packet mixes)

I am sure there must be a way to replicate it home made, any suggestions appreciated :)

(The meatballs wouldn't last until we get them home if I bought them in Ikea as it's too far for frozen stuff, plus the cost, packet gravy mixes is the cost issue it's expensive once you add the cream cost on top)

    Thanks :D
One day I might be more organised...........

Yep there are as many recipies as there are people cooking in scandinavia - and it's not a swedish dish ;) They are just the only ones with a world wide furniture store where they can sell them ;)

¼ kilo ground veal (I use beef mince - lean - as I object to veal for ethical reasons.)
    ¼ kilo ground pork
One large finely chopped medium onion or 2 smaller onions
    2 eggs
    Butter (Lurpak whatelse!)
    Flour
Bread crumbs (or you can substitute with oats - these are great for bulking the meatballs out a bit too)
2 cups milk (I really wouldn’t use water… they just don’t taste the same)
    Salt and pepper
My personal touch on these are one tea spoon of each: Mustard powder, mixed herbs and ground ginger.

mix up well (get your hands in!) and shape into little balls and fry in a pan with melted butter!

The sauce... once you have cooked the meatballs fish out the burnt onion bits from the pan. Take some flour and fry in the pan for a little bit. Once it's cooked add milk and season. This should also give you the colour you want :)

Only two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. Will a new pair of shoes really help? :p

And whatever you do dont ask on a Finnish Forum, then you get all the inter-scandinavian rivalries going.!
