I have just applied for the 22 month 0% card. Thought it would be an instant decision but they sent a message saying some details need to be checked and I would hear within 5 days. Does this mean we will be refused the card.
The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best

Quite annoying, because I have a £990 spend on the day I return
Have you asked them for an extension under the cirumstances? Worth a try maybe.
Does this mean we will be refused the card.
    No not necessarily.
It may mean there is something on your credit report that coudln't be handled by automated software and your application has to be handled manually.
It could mean there was a technical glitch and the automated check failed and you have to be checked manually.
No - just because your decision takes longer doesn't mean it's a refusal.
I've had this before e.g. capital one and still got the card.
Obviously in this case there is some urgency, but no you can not jump to any conclusions (expect that they are pretty rubbish).

I suspect they've had a deluge following the MSE email and can't cope with the backlog of those that need to be processed manually.

No I haven't heard anything (I knwo there was a credit search on 16th and from phone calls I know they have my application).
It won't be a great deal of use to me now.

Also having a terrible experience with Barclaycard here. Applied for the same card everyone else is applying for, but got accepted on slightly different terms (only 20 months 0% bt, higher APR, no mention of cashback) so I had to sign and return a paper credit agreement. I returned this over 2 weeks ago but nothing has happened since.

Have called them 4 times. Once I was told that they can't confirm if they received my form or not and I should just wait longer. Since then I just keep getting told systems are down.

is there a rule that they should reply within a certain time frame? Or even if its a rejection they should let us know? I am not happy to have been credit searched with no results.... Where can I take this to?

I don't think there are any timescales and certainly 3 weeks is not that outrageous I'm afraid.
They ought to let you know, but I can't see much point complaining. You would have agreed to the credit search when you applied and if you complain then all they have to do is reject you to satisfy any complaint.
I agree you've been badly treated but credit is not a right and I don't think you'll get anywhere by complaining.
The best thing to do is to vote with your feet and go elsewhere.

    Yep me too.
Willl probably close down my Barclays account and not use them in future.
Not just because of this application, but because of multiple issues with their service.
I'd need a good reason to use them in future.
