Barclaycard application - rubbish!

Just applied for the Barclaycard Platinum card with 11% cashback deal, got to the end of the application and got an error screen, telling me to call their customer service number.

Called up, to be told that it will take 7-10 days to find out if my application was successful, as they will write to me! On screen, it told me I should know within 60 seconds!

Rubbish! Was only doing it to get the cashback on Christmas spending, which we will probably have nearly finished before I get the card (if I get one!)

Can't see them declining me due to my credit history (good score, no adverse history etc), maybe too many people have already applied...

I was going to apply, but I don't have any money to BT, so first I'd have to spend £100, then wait for it to appear on my account, and then try to open a Barclays card and transfer the sum and then hope it comes in time to get the most out of it.

I wouldn't think a £100 (or whatever) positive balance would create any problems.

However, I agree that the timescales are very tight...especially if you're doing the £100 phone BT during the activation call, rather than the £250 BT online during the application itself.

Same happened when I applied.

I bet I get the card and they apply a credit limit which is less than £909!

Applied for the 22months BT card last Wednesday, called today, they are still being looked at by the referred team.... very fast service Barclaycard have.....

No you don't.
Any company doing a balance transfer has no visibility of the other end. They just send money.
There is potential for positive balances to be returned or trigger money laundering checks so I would
a) minimise the BT
b) put some petrol in your car or buy some food on it.

Called them today, guess what, the application status system is down. This happened 4 days ago and again now. Makes me think twice about Barclaycard now.....

Just got off the phone with them.... application still open..... might be stucked at some check they say....

Very slow, when I applied it said 7-10 days.

I applied, but I already have the ex-Egg Barclaycard master card - so I don't think I meet the conditions. I have been left waiting as well....
