Barclaycard application - rubbish!

I called this number 0800 731 0200.
My application is still open and I have to wait another week.
I have a good salary and very good credit report, but my Xmas spending is gradually being done. I cannot leave everything till the last minute just for this application.

hm.... still nothing heard from barclaycard yet.... not good....

I have been trying since yesterday morning just to make an application. Every time I enter all of my details and then the website says there is an error. Each time I have called 0800 731 0200 to be told that their system are down and that they can't take the application by phone as they have no access to the system either.
Strange that we all seem to be being told slightly different stories - can it be a coincidence that these outages are happening on the final days of a pretty good balance transfer deal? Or did they just got more applications than they wanted?
It's certainly putting me off moving to Barclays.

I just got off the phone and was once again told that the application team is still waiting to make a decision and need correspondance or whatever. If they need correspondance, they should contact me to ask for whatever they need but nothing is being done!!! I got an address for their application department, wonder whether I should write to them. Losing patience with Barclaycard here.

Same story, application is open, no news, will get something in 7 days.

I complained about the timescale with the cashback, finally got the operator to concede to an extension, but to be honest, I have no spending plans in early Jan so it wouldn't be that much use to me if they extend. I'm rapidly giving up hope because I'm not the sort of person that leaves my shopping to the last minute.

I am applying for the normal BT card not for the cashback though. Which will be useful anyhow but the process is making me lose faith in Barclaycard really.

Yep, agree.
I am thinking of closing mine down, once I've had my cashback.
But you do need to check on your credit report that they actually do it, because they are rubbish at that as well.

lol.... I am not even sure I will get this card now, not to even mention about closing the card.

I have a terrible credit rating (my user name may give away the reason for that!) but I was accepted for the card anyway. They did withdraw the £100 offer, so it is just the balance transfer I am using to give myself some breathing space on my debts. If they accepted me, they will accept anyone

This is clearly just Barclaycard doing a bit of headline grabbing.

I applied online the evening the MSE tip came out, and saw a system error on the final application page. I called them the following morning, was told my application didn't go through, and applied again immediately.
This was on Wed 16th Nov.

I called to confirm they had my app, and they did.

It is now 3rd Dec, and I'm still waiting for them to send through the official paper work.

Going on holiday tonight (and already received todays post), so looks like this isn't going to happen.
Quite annoying, because I have a £990 spend on the day I return - which would have been perfect for this.
