Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 2oth November. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
The oven is on with 15 chicken breasts in, 10 Jerk, 5 Cajun, as soon as they are cooked the chocolate brownies will go in & also the cake I'm making to take to work tomorrow.
Other plans for today are nonexistant, lol. I shall do cooked breakfast for hubby when he gets up, he put the finishing touches to the gazebo yesterday & treated me to a meal at the local Carvery, £15 for 2 meals & 2 puddings. Today he'll bring the garden tables & chairs in so everyone has somewhere to sit for the meal. I've tidied the living room & finished all mittens, I'm a little bit dissapointed as I asked everyone for Amazon vouchers so I could buy a Kindle, but my DD let slip that she & her sibs have bought me something special instead as it's a big birthday, oh !!!!!!, I really wanted a Kindle, lol.
I best get on, or the food won't be ready on time, they are all arriving at 12ish, it's easier than an evening meal as all the children are between 1 & 7.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone,

    Happy Birthday Hester!

Up early again as I am off to another netball match with DD2 this morning. All this practice must be doing them some good as they won 43-3 yesterday.:D

Got to get to a supermarket after church, we have even run out of onions and tinned tomatoes which are the basis of virtually everything that I cook.

Had a great day in Sheffield yesterday with my friend once I had sorted out which trains were cancelled due to engineering works that they hadn't mentioned anywhere, not even at the station.

    Hugs to all in need.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Morning everyone, happy birthday Hester, hope you have a lovely day with your family x

We are off today to hunt down a christening outfit for the boys although i am going to see if DS1's from last year will fit DS2 first, its all about the money saving!

I did stew for the first time in the slow cooker yesterday and DH and the boys loved it but i haven't liked stew since i was a child but i tried it (and still didn't like it!) so the rest went in the freezer, very OS :j

We are off to Cardiff arena on Tuesday to see Lee Evans, anyone know if there is a suitable (good but cheap) place to eat within walking distance from there, wetherspoons maybe?

Hope everyone has a great day

Not much OS going on here today. Taking kids to see my parents this morning while H does some ironing and then off to the snow dome this afternoon for my nephews birthday party. Kids get to try out their new snow boots :)
Tea will probably be a makeshift or something simple for me and H as kids will be eating at the party.

Hester enjoy your family coming round, maybe they have gone ahead and bought you a kindle?? Xx Happy birthday for tomorrow

    Morning all,

Nothing went to plan y/day as I ended up having the joyous company of DGD. Didn't do the lamb shank dinner but grabbed a hm chinese meal out of the freezer. So Lamb with roasties and greens for dinner today.
Tomorrow will be a busy day because we have to prepare for the Soar panel fitter who is coming on Tuesday. He'll need to run wires through the first attic the to get to the elec meter. We'll have to take the carpets and floor boards up and move furniture in the main bedroom. That's sure to make lots of dust.
BM on washing from y/day dried so I'll do some ironing later, I managed to clear the mountain of it days ago and don't want to start another so I'm determind to iron as soon as it's dried.
Still haven't caught up properly but have read,
HALIGHT I enjuy your posts, keep em coming.
JACKIG, Hope all gets sorted out regarding work. (((((((hugs)))))) for your BiL and Uncle. x

  • Morning alll,

Late night for me last night, I am having trouble falling asleep this weather. But I am up and wide awake now. Just about to have my porridge then get busy. Need to clean the house thoroughly today, and have a go at a mealplan, so I can do a shop tomorrow at Lidl for f&v and essential. I am challenging myself to stay out of the big sipermarkets for the rest of the year, and just uselidl, aldi and farmfoods to see if it help in my quest to save pennies for my forthcoming life of penury ;)

I reserved myself a seat on th brassic bench last night, and am lookingforward to seeng how that thread pans out, I think I will drop Haribo a wee text and see if she needs a space too, I miss her on mse, hopefully it will temp her back.

Off to see the Christmas lights go on in Glasgow tonight, we're a bit sad as OH isnt home for it, it will be the first time we havent all gone together since OH and I have known one another. My nephew is having his ticket instead, he needs something to put a,smile on his wee face, and we are going out for Mexican beforehand. :)

Have a fantastic day, everyone. Hugs and spoons all round.

    Jackie xxx

PS LameWolf, thats exactly what I intend to do, thank you. X
