I'm looking to get an iPhone 4 or 4s

What's the best 12 month deal around?

I would maybe consider an 18 month deal if the price is right

The best deal is the one that suits the individual, some don't like to pay anything towards the handset and have it all on credit.

The best deal for 4s with a reasonable number of minutes and amount of data is £499 from Apple store plus 12x£10 sim-only tariff (or 18x£10), i.e. the total cost £619 (or £679).

If you find a contract with a smaller total cost (I don't think so), it is a good deal.

I could probably pay 100 - 200 but after that I'd only want to be paying 30 ish a month

Well if you want to go a little more and a little more then the Tesco mobile deal £235 upfront then £35 for 12 months
then that totals £655 , considering the handset would cost you £499 anyway, then in practice you are paying £13 per month for 750mins /5000texts 1gb data and openzone access. But as Grumbler points out, the offers are not going to vary greatly from that, so get your wallet out or continue to dream

Yes the cheapest way is nearly always to buy the phone from Apple for £499(4s)/£419(ip4) then get a sim only contract.
Cheapest are T-mobile:£7.71 per month for 300 mins/300 texts/500mb internet.
Talk mobile £8 per month for 200 minutes/500 texts/ 500mb internet
Giffgaff: £10 per month for 250 mins/unlimited texts/unlimited internet

Are are higher plans if you use more minutes etc.If you can afford to buy phone outright,this is the best way.

Which equates to £515 not sure what the new price of the iphone 4 are nowadays
