Thanks for the thought, but I did that, as soon as I found that I'd inadvertently signed up.

I joined (sort of by accident) Complete Savings in February of this year, but to try to recover from my mistake I've since then sent them several Trainline receipts. However, I've heard nothing from them and received no cashback. I see that others have managed to get monthly subscriptions refunded: is it simply a matter of telling them I didn't mean to join in the first place? Many thanks.

    Edited to add:

I just looked at the Complete Savings site, having decided to cancel my membership. The acknowledgement message says something like, "If you have any rewards unpaid, you will receive them soon". We'll see...
    .

Ain't no good sending them any receipts, from Trainline or anywhere else, if you've not bought the tickets/whatever else if you've no accessed the retailer by clicking on the link whilst signed in to CS for your cashback or member bonus for that matter I think, though you still have to forward them the receipt/shipping confirmation to claim your monthly 15 quid bonus.

Most elementary my dear Watson :T

I'm surprised to see so many negative posts as my personal experience with them was positive - received £16 sign up bonus after an ebay purchase, waited for the £15 monthly bonus to be processed before cancelling the trial. That's £31 extra cashback that I wouldn't otherwise have, so I'm happy, but I personally wouldn't pay a monthly membership fee to use any cashback site.

But you're not paying a monthly membership fee as such, you get it refunded by forwarding them a receipt of something you've bought each month and receive it back in the form of the monthly bonus.

At least you're voicing surprise at the negative comments because I sit there scratching my head at them every time a new one appears. For this month I'm sat on £41.57 cashback approved, received my 15 quid membership bonus and just back from Marks's having spent our second £100 one4all gift card acquired for 80 quid through CS.

That means having to make a purchase through them every month, which isn't always possible. In any case I can't even login to see their retailer list since my account is inactive.

Well we're hardly the planet's most prolific shopaholics yet still don't have any problem servicing both our accounts to get the member bonus by making purchases each month whatsoever.

Don't matter if it's a 99 pence pack of number plate fixings from eBay, some groceries from Waitrose, some cheap 'n nasty clobber from boohoo or literally 100's of other retailers out there you get your 10% cashback regardless and you've then also made that purchase to forward the receipt and get your 15 quid member bonus.

I actually find the biggest problem is forgetting to check if who you're about to buy from is a CS registered trader before pulling the trigger on your purchase, although many others seem to believe spending 30 seconds of your life forwarding the consequent proof of shipping/purchase to get your 15 quid sub back once a month is all too stressful and complicated

What are the gift card savings available through them?
Are they similar to employee offer portals?

Hi. At the moment, you can have Arcadia (Burton Group) Argos, lots of chain store jewellers and One4all gift card at 20% off. There are lots of other gift cards ranging from 4% to 10% off. I am only interested in the 20% ones. I have been with them a good few years, they do refresh them as when I first joined it was B&Q and Sports Direct gift cards with 20% off.

Found this on my bank statement last week, traced it back to an offer I stupidly clicked and filled in to save using MyHermes when I was selling stuff on Ebay. I had 4 deductions of £15 made.

I complained to the bank who told me to complain to Complete savings as it says here, the bank were well aware of them but said they are a legitimate company who will give you your money back if you ask.

Anyway I did ask, and they have refunded all charges. Handy to know. I also wish to apply for a formal money saving expert reprimand for A) not reading the small print before I subscribed, B) not noticing the first 3 deductions of £15 from my account.

    Darn it.
Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.
  • So you "stupidly clicked and filled in to save using MyHermes" and yet still have the front to pipe up for a refund 4 months later?

Sorry to be so brutally honest but you're clearly a 24 carat dinlow then and don't deserve to get a penny back as far as I'm concerned.

Though it's only fair to add that perhaps you should be given some credit for not dribbling out the usual denial of any knowledge of ever signing up to CS in the first place which is what 99% of greedy self entitled money savers seem to do but still a very poor show on your part nonetheless.
