  • If like me you have signed up to this by mistake - getting around to cancel it and having the hassle of phoning these guys may well be something that you have been meaning to do for a while! I have just cancelled it this morning on line without having to ring them - easy! Appreciate that I have lost lots of £10's but at least its now cancelled and I have received confirmation from them. If you want to claim the historical payments phone them if you just want to cancel search for your Email for 'complete savings' and they now have a link to cancel the membership - which is completesavings.co.uk/features/cancel/default.rails
    Good luck

My wife just signed up for this. The hook she fell for was that the invitation popped-up after placing an order from a company we (used to) trust. Membership is now £15 per month, and the only place it is mentioned is in very small print (of course the benefits are all on big banners !).

To be fair the cancellation process was by an 0800 number and very simple. The robot was even very courteous. Immediate emailed confirmation of cancellation.

I'm thinking that if my TV and PVR and Washing Machine and Lawnmower all need replacing within a few months, then it's a scheme worth looking at (for those few months only), and I'll stock up with a few years supply of dog food at the same time. Otherwise not worth bothering with.
  • When making an online purchase from a well-known department store I saw the offer from Complete Savings (CS) regarding discounts on future purchases. I merely ticked a box - thinking that would give me access to the scheme. I was therefore flabbergasted when I subsequently spotted a couple of deductions from my bank account payable to CS. Whatever the merits or otherwise of the CS scheme,I am adamant that I only provided my bank details to the department store - raising the question as to how CS obtained them ?
The department store asserts that it did not provide CS with my personal information. However, several of the earlier posts express similar puzzlement about their banking accounts being accessed. Is there any evidence that the stores themselves are passing on banking details on the strength of a 'ticked box' ?
  • I would never give my bank details. Would you believe I stayed at the Travelodge in Bromsgrove and they had my card details which was forwarded onto complete savings. I DID NOT know I was signing up for money to be taken out of my account every month. Travelodge sent me emails regarding offers but at no time did I give permission for them to use my card details. My bank details was never given online but when I stayed at the Travelodge my card was used. This is unbelievable how they abused my card details and I won't be staying at a Travelodge again. It's not about customers be stupid and reckless, it's about people like this being sneaky, relentless, cunning, shrewd and determined to find a way to trick and steal from the public.

In fairness to other user posts on the sign up process (and indeed as proven in a court of law) the sign up process for these schemes is transparent with a registration screen, and what seems to be happening is users forget they signed up. It's a human condition, we forget things. And then we feel aggrieved because we "swear I never did that...."
  • I have just discovered that I must have signed up for this and have had £30 taken from my account in June and August. Obviously forgot to take it in July. I have cancelled my subscription although I have no idea how I did and have advised my bank. This is like the "free" samples and the £2.50 carriage charge and hey ho £80 is taken from you bank the next month for goods you dont want. Still waiting for money from Lloyds but as its an american company I could be waiting ages. Really only trust the sites you know is the lesson
  • Slightly different question - I've "just signed up" - not due to pay anything until next month -so just started my 30 day free trial.
However, looking at their website, I am somewhat "underwhelmed" by their list of retailers or am I missing something. I've been a member of Quidco and TCB for a number of years, and most of my cashback has come from insurance and holidays (hotels etc.) - but neither of these categories seem to have any retailers.
    Am I missing something?

barafear799: They have a lot of sellers there, but their search and categorizing function is horrible piece of turd probably coded by monkeys that were high on fermented fruit. The only way to really find anything from the list of sellers there is to have a seller's name in mind and then go to the right starting letter and see if they are on the list.

If you ever receive your cheques, I congratulate you. I (unlike many others) was not hoodwinked by the company into joining by not reading carefully - on the contrary, I even did research on them before deciding to join anyway (ohhhh the sweet promise of a £30 cheque). Most of the negative reviews seemed to be from people that I judged to be blind to small print, so I didn't think much of the negative rep coming from them. After joining I found a lot of sellers on the company's website that I liked, so I stayed a customer, claiming back my Monthly Bonuses (basically the monthly fee) every month, thinking it was a bargain since I wasn't really paying them anything for the service, I was gonna get it all back when the cheques came, plus a bit of extra on top.

Except that the cheques (well, majority of them) never arrived.

After waiting around ages for the first one, I contacted the customer service and was told that there had been an error in processing my cheque and that they would send it promptly. This much was true, as I received this cheque in 2 weeks after sending the e-mail. Then my monthly bonus started being quite late, so I contacted the customer service again. They had never received it (the online form of the website is probably coded by the same monkeys, or otherwise just an convenient excuse they can use when they have "not received" your receipts, as the damn thing gives no confirmation wether the information was sent or not). I resent it and my Welcome Reward claim as well. Later that month I sent another Monthly Bonus claim, and after that I've sent other two. These were all showing on my profile as approved and processed, so all seemed to be dandy and things were supposedly moving along.

However, no cheques arrive, so I pester the customer service again. This time I am told that the cheques have been sent and that they will need to make sure they have not been cashed before sending me new ones. A rather long and tedious e-mail exchange ensues, with my ticket number changing with every damn reply I make to them and the person replying to me constantly changing (or at least the same person siging the copypaste posts with different names). At one point it takes 10 days for the customer service to reply to me, during which time one of the cheques for a monthly bonus suddenly arrives! WHOO!

I take it to the bank, and guess what? It bounces.

What takes the cake though is that I wrote a 2-star review about them on another website and got a reply from the company from a customer service representer that gave out her own e-mail address so I could talk directly to her and resolve the issue. I e-mailed her, but have received no reply. However, my bad review has been buried and several 5-star reviews from "confirmed" buyers - meaning people Complete Savings has requested to to leave a review. LOL.

Someone said it right on the first page: don't touch with a bargepole.
  • Ooops.....that doesn't sound too good. Just requested my first "cheque" for my "next Ryanair" booking.....but as I say, I'm really struggling to find any merchants I'd actually want to use!?! 10% on Tesco Direct sounds good - but will I get it?

What I mostly use(d) the website for was that I used thetrainline -bookings I made to ask back the Monthly Bonus (basically, refund of the monthly fee) and took advantage of cashback on places like Groupon and Debenhams. What merchants are you looking for, specifically?

Based on my experience, I foresee you getting your first cheque, because at that point they have to convince you to stay a member so they can start billing you. After that? I wouldn't count on it.
