"Complete Savings" scheme

I too got 'caught out' over 12 months ago and after reading through here, contacted Mary at at customerservice@completesavings.co.uk
After explaining that I was unaware of joining the scheme and that the bank and email accounts she had on file were Internet specific accounts and were little used; ultimately meaning I was unaware of the under the radar payments being made. Mary confirmed that I'd not used the service and fully refunded my subscription from the day I 'joined'.
She explained in detail how I'd joined through a Travelodge booking and the process I used when doing it and quoted the various T's & C's as well as highlighting the small print. So, as previously said, be careful on what you click on.
I don't remember this at all but I must say that whilst the sign up may be questionable, the swift (less than a week and over a few emails), positive response I received was a breath of fresh air and I can't praise them enough for that. .0 -
Hmmm
Just found this on my statement and found out I had been paying out for 13 months. Yes, i know, check your statements more often. In my defence i do have a lot of bank accounts and credit cards and there is a lot of activity.
Apparently i joined when making a Ticket Master purchase in May 2013. I cannot recall agreeing to this, and i NEVER sign up for these schemes. It may have been an option to 'tick' or not, and may have been ticked by default. Maybe i was worried about Ticket Masters 'time out' period and unwittingly left a box ticked or misunderstood it.
But i can categorically say i would never allow myself to be redirected (mid purchase or after purchase) to a 3rd part website, and re enter my card details for some savings scheme. So i can only assume they get details from within your original purchase. Maybe this has changed now and you are in fact redirected as per Complete Savings email before.
I've not used it, never heard of it, and requested a full refund. We'll see, I am hopeful.
General observations:
1 - The numerous people who literally only joined to slag off other people who felt wronged, or to gush about their fantastic experience, i find somewhat suspicious. I can understand someone like me coming across this forum post by typing in 'complete savings scam' into google and finding the thread. But why oh why, would people otherwise not members of MSE, and apparently delighted with Complete Savings - have found the thread and posted so quickly? If you were happy, why would you Google this and find MSE then be bothered enough to join up and comment? and then several people all within a short space of time, who have since disappeared and had little if any meaningful input elsewhere on this forum? hmmmm
2 - Stemcgoo - why would you spend your precious time, for years, following this thread (and anything related to Webloyalties other reward / discount schemes) - posting such a vigorous defence? fair enough you are happy (allegedly), but i cannot understand the mindset where you would repeatedly hammer complete strangers, in such a rude and disrespectful way? There are intelligent, literate people from all walks of life all over the world who are caught out by this, yet you feel qualified to brand everyone else as an idiot?
3 - Smoke and fire. If SO MANY PEOPLE all around the world, are unhappy with this strategy, and have unwittingly signed up to things they didn't realise - surely, surely, there is something that needs to be looked at. Like a lot of these things, i suspect they rely on a large number of people skirting over an introductory offer without delving into the fine print, and then either not noticing the £10 a month, or simply cancelling without wanting a cashback. I would LOVE to know how many of their 'subscribers' are actually claiming any discounts, and how many are simply dormant, having money debitted month after month until they query it. A business that relies on people being hasty / misunderstanding terms / blinded by a lead in free period etc - to me is a scam. I also do not believe that in the past, all people logged out of their current purchase and into a new website where they were warned 4 times etc there was a £10 monthly fee. Too many people say this never happened.
4 - The fact they give refunds so quickly and are keen to palm you off seems somewhat suspicious. What other company / service, would so readily and so speedily refund 100s of £££, with a few emails or phone calls??? the answer is not very many... except those who are playing a 'number game', pay off the trouble makers quickly, and want to keep complaints to a minimum... seriously, where else would you sign up to a service and ask for a refund, and they just roll over and say - "its completely your fault but ok then here's all your money back"...0 -

Please can you point out where I have been rude or disrespectful? I think I can recall coming in for some abuse myself, being called a shill and a fake, but I haven't hammered anyone. Admittedly I get fed up of people bleating about "I never signed up...." And then only months later noticing they did but refusing to admit their own fault.
For me the website works, it's just the same as quidco or TCB but with better cashbacks that easily outweigh the £10 subscription.
As for why would I bother spending time to defend them? Why not? Am I supposed to only come on MSE and complain? Am I not entitled to post my appreciation or support of a job well done?
Is your view of society so jaded as to suppose the only reason people get out of bed is to whine and whinge at how the world has cheated them?
So much for positive reinforcement eh?
While we're at it, shall we ask Martin Lewis and websites like HUKD to stop sharing good deals and how to save money as clearly that's not nearly as valuable as putting in a good complaint???0 -
so yet again my own view on this is completely discounted as fraud - in your own words, dull-whitted springs to mind.0

NO idea why reputable firms are using this firm - I heard a radio broadcast about this scam the same week I was booking a holiday n the UK. I used The trainline.com and paid for my tickets with a card specifically used for holidays - I was taken through to the Complete savings scam page but, as I knew all about it, immediately closed down my browser and went on with my life!! As I pay off the credit card monthly I then did not check my statements knowing I hadn't used the card. A year later I actually voluntarily joined the scheme knowing a month after booking one lot of flights with Opodo I would be booking more and could therefore maybe benefit. I cancelled the membership within the 30days - and was stunned to find that I had also had a membership running with them linked to a separate email for almost 18 months!!
I absolutely know I did not input any information or agree to be part of their scheme when sent to their pages from The trainline - why is this not considered theft? Fraud? Obtaining money by deception?:mad:0 -
In my case I thought I was giving my details to the train company which I was trying to purchase tickets from. It was difficult to see there was any way other way of getting the dang tickets other than filling in my details, so I just assumed they were part of the same company. [Text removed by MSE Forum Team] I'm pretty disappointed that a largeish company would try to pull this on me.
This also happened to me and you may find that, like me, you did not actually input any information into the Complete Savings linked pages but that your information- including your payment card details - were swept through to them automatically when you clicked on the button asking your if you want £10 off the cost - who doesn't!! I actually closed down my browser at that point and they still managed to use all the details I had only put in The trainline pages when actually buying the tickets - this is pure theft to me!!
I am - and I suggest you do too - going to ask for all of the money back based on that fact.0 -

the people who think complete savings is a scam are the people who don't check what comes out of there bank account.
i check all my accounts weekly,so if the first £10 comes out and you are not happy then cancel.
i've been with complete savings since june 12th 2012,and i've e mailed countless times with problems that i have had with them, but they get sorted in the end.
Since june i've earnt £1450,so if you use it rirght you can earn a fair amount, but you need to spend a little, say if spend £1000 you get back £100 and so on.
i think people are to quick to dismiss it,it certainly isn't a scam.0 -
Can anybody shed any light. Just looked at old bank account that's hardly used and noticed since July 2012 Complete Savings have been taking £10 a month? When I contacted them they told me that I had purchased a pizza through Pizza Hut and paid for it direct to Pizza Hut and that's how it happened - has anybody else had this happen to them as I have never heard of them - furious is an understatement!!!! How did they even get my details!!!!:):mad::mad:0

I have spoken to very helpful and understanding customer services representative at Complete Savings.
I explained the situation that I also had unknowingly signed up and had not used the service.
She informed me that I would receive 6 months refund within 10 days and sent me a form to complete for the remainder.
That is Great Customer Service.
