Spent £30 in Sainsbugs on Xmas cards, some chocolate bits for kids and a top up present for DD. So not a fat lot basically <rolls eyes>
Om a mission to get things bought and finished tomorrow, then starts the wrapping <sigh>

ETA ignore thatit all cost £30

Hoping to have stemmed the haemorrhaging of money now
Did my final food shop before Christmas. We are eating at my mums so I haven't had much of the usual expense. I am not under any circumstances going near a supermarket until AFTER Christmas and Boxing Day. If we run out of something then that's tough :rotfl:
So whilst most Christmas prep has been done I confess my thoughts are turning to the new year. Have been wandering round my house and have come to the conclusion that it's not so much shabby chic as in just plain shabbyit really is an embarrassment. So 2012 is going to be the year of getting stuff done. As much as I like the idea of shabby chic its just not practical with 2 small kids and a cat, quite frankly it's just too much white paint for my liking
I think country cottage is more my style despite the fact that I don't live in the country or indeed in a cottage :rotfl: so my 2012 challenge will be t a) discover some inspiration to transform my home and b) do it on a minuscule budget
There will have to be some money spent on some new carpets, spilt nail polish (by me) is not part of the decor and I am going to have to beat H into getting the idea of no outdoor shoes on in the house. The kids are training in this so why not he?
Any of you got plans for new year?I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

I found you. Took me bloomin' long enough lol. Well I'm here and I've read it (love it BTW). So I'm going to follow. I'm still in the frugality, make do and mend groove, so there will be lots for me to learn and hopefully make some new friends along the way.;)

Actually, the lounge could do with redecorating; it was last done before I moved in with Mr LW, so prior to 2002, but I'm not sure I'll be quite up to that, and have a total horror of having professionals in to do it (plus don't want the expense of that). But if I can do enough cross stitch pieces, maybe I can cover up the tatty bits that way.:rotfl:
If I can get the steam cleaner on the carpet tiles in the hall, bathroom and kitchen that'll be a good thing; they're in need of doing. That'll be the result of all my canine guests - amongst whom are the World's Messiest Eater, and a Westie with a leaky bladder. Bless 'em, I wouldn't change them for the world.:D
Bitsy, you'll know what I mean, I'm sure - you must have sometimes had mindees who you could tear your hair out sometimes, but you love 'em really.:o
Also, I have an old shirt of Mr LW's begging to be turned into napkins and a tray cloth, so being well enough to do that would be a start.:o
Really and truly, one of these days I'll have to bite the bullet and get the kitchen completely refitted - but I've been putting that off for about six years now, so the likelihood of getting it done this year is low, I reckon.:rotfl:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
:rotfl: LW I know exactly what you mean
I have pen, various lines from a car being run up and down a wall not to mention the various "dings" in the plaster. It really is a tip when you study it closely. I always told myself it didn't matter but when I go round to a friends house and even with kids it's been nicely finished and well presented with nice finishing touches well mine feels like a Hovel
Clutter is our biggest problem. How does one train a husband to picK up his clothes and not treat the bedroom floor like a floordrobe?
How do you cope with the endless bits of paper that comes in the post or gets brought home by the kids? Stuff that can't immediately be filed or recycled but stuff that can't afford to get lost in the reams of paper. I even considered an in tray but quite frankly can't bear the thought of the house ending up one giant office......
Answers on a postcard please.......I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
