which phone instead of iphone4s please
Hi
i have iphone4 which i want to give to my son for xmas i am due an upgrade in about 2-3 weeks so my question is which phone to go for?minutes/texts are unimportant to me as i dont really use many i do use iphone quite often for surfing/email facebook/twitter/checking cricket football scores news etc.....
i like iphone for ease of use and size but dont really want to pay for 4s
i can get staff discount from tesco also they have decent sim only staff deals
my budget is about £200(xmas/birthday present) or £20/month contract only 12months contract i dont go for long contracts.
although i am alllowed to go for 4s but dont want to spend that much upfront buying outright or 12 month contract with staff discount
and there is stock issue nobody knows when they will be in stock i have few vouchers plus will get some more xmas ones
any ideas sorry for the long post and thank you

You wont get the top Android phones (Samsung Galaxy SII, htc SensationXE/XL) for £250. They will all be £400-£500 plus.
What about a Sony Erricson Xperia Neo. Thats a quite good phone and you should get it for under £250. It also has a great 8MP camera and seems to have OK specs elsewhere.
Do remember though that Android phones have a different user experience (Im not saying its better or worse) than iPhones and it will take a while to get used to it, especially if you have had iOS for a while.
The Lumia 710 could also be an option for you, but it isnt out PAYG yet. I think the Windows Phone OS has great userbility and it will be a great little phone.

Might be worth keeping an eye out on Amazon from tomorrow -they are doing a "Black Friday" promotion again this year from Monday to Friday and there could well be some phones going cheap. Expect whatever they have on offer to disappear at lightning speed though. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

True, though Sky have said that they are working on an Android version. I don't watch TV much anyway so having Sky Go (or not) is a moot point for me reallyNow free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -

What is a top spec android phone though? What will the Xperia Arc do that the Neo will not? is all that extra cost going to a larger screen (which is not always desirable) , on top of that, paying £400 then the OP may as well get another iphone. Must say I disagree about learning curve, the iphones are not easy to use and the android is not difficult, not sure why the learning curve (if one really exists) would be any different for a WMP.
Many people do not want an iphone not through not being able to afford it , they simply do not wish to own one, as the OP wishes to migrate from one , perhaps he may feel they are not as great as they once were
PS this post is not an attack on your opinion .0 -

I'm not a sky customer , and it doesn't seem logical to spend a lot of money on a 40" TV then to watch on a mobile device (although I do watch BBC breakfast to see if Sian is still looking hot) :cool:0 -

You can be assured that you won't be missing any features and will probably gain some too, here are some screen shots from my handset
battery life is seeing more than 2 days without fuss
the home screen is customisable to suit your own requirments
and an array of apps are available just the same
I also have a HTC Wildfire, and must confess that the SE set up is more pleasing0
