no i haven't phoned yet i have been getting other quotes from different suppliers first.
When i go to n powers web site and put my predicted usage in they come back £220 a year cheaper!!!
most of the prices ive been quoted come in around £200 to £300 cheaper.
going to give them a call when later.
£52 a month may sound cheap but we have all ways been in credit so that must be the amount of power we use.
But you don't want to use your predicted usage, you need to use your actual annual kWh figures from your bills. You say you have been in the property for four years, so you can calculate exactly what your annual usage is across a four year average. Put that into the comp site as the basis for comparison. Monthly DD amounts are not accurate and should be avoided.
Don't waste time on different suppliers' websites, put your figures in just once to a comp site and let it do all the work for you.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
after 17 yrs with n power and never being in credit i switched to British gas about 8 months ago im going into the winter with a credit of £286 , my dd payments are the same as with n power. i dont do anything differently the heating's on when we really need it .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. worked out my actual usage which is
gas= from jan to nov 11869 kw
electric = from jan to nov 2098 kw
they predicted that i would use 2914 electric and 12138 of gas.
looking back over the past bills the usage is around the same and all so the predicted usage is all ways around the same. the cost of the fuel has slowly gone up but no doubled in the last 6 months and iam still in credit and have never been out of credit in 4 years.will speak to them tomo.To be honest when i put my usage into u switch the all prices come back around the same £800 a year.
Whats the best duel fuel deal around at the moment if i were to change?0 -

Well you should just challenge the accuracy and valididy of the "usage assumptions". In respect of the gas, challenge it on the basis that last year's usage included an exceptionally severe winter and future weather cannot be predicted. I suggest "about 20%" should be knocked off.
In respect of the electricity it just looks plain wrong. Assuming you haven't made a typo, challenge NPower on its accuracy, if necessary through the complaints process. Because of the high unit price of electricity any error has a disproportionate effect on the DD calculation.
If you are thinking of switching be aware that if you are on a "deferred discount" tariff (likely) you could forfeit a £100 discount.0 -
we are on SP Online energy 14 dual fuel. Our last reading and bill was yesterday,Gas £50,Elec £56 for the quarter. We pay £56 monthly and are in credit. It is a 2 bed ground floor flat and someone is always home.0

On the letter it says that electricity is going up by 7.5% and that gas is going up by 16.3% annual, which equals 23.8% rise, not 100% rise. Will see what they say tomo.I know we will use alot more over the winter months and i will need to pay more to stay in credit but not twice as much even with the rise in fuel cost.0

your clearly a bit clueluess, and quite spontanous.
Just cos your ddeb has changed, your jumping the gun, blagging, and lookign to move, without finding the reasons why.....
Your ddeb does not determine which company is cheaper.
If i sold energy id love to get you on the phone, cos from your post i would be 100% that if you called the company i work for if i said your ddeb would be £60, you would switch on the back of that....
call your supplier, find out why......
perhaps its went up, as you have been on estimated, and now a reading has been taking your in debit..... thats very possible and also very common.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -

i came on here to get a bit of advice before i called n power, not to be called clueless by some key bored warrior.I dont sit at home all day looking on the internet to belittle someone whos just asking advice.
if you havn't got ant thing helpful to say whats the point in posting?
on my bill some of the readings say estimates next to the kwh figure, but the last 4 readings say actual next to kwh.So does this mean that they have been and taken a reading?.No where on my bill does it say we owe them money i'am still in credit and have been for 4 years.I'am sure it will become alot clearer when i ring them tomo cheers for your constructive replay.0 -

Your welcome........
if it says actual, thats because the reading has been taken.
For your payment to go up that much, i would be certain you have to be in debit.
I wouldnt see myself as a keyboard warrior, but thanks for that.... go consumer warrior......Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -

Now now, the guy did not use the quote button so we do not know which post he is reffering to, as mentioned early on in the thread, it is about the consumption of energy that you use, not the size of the DD mandate, and in your defence a lot of comanies do ask how much do you pay per month, instead of asking how much energy have you used in the last 12 months?
I see you have now posted the energy usage which will always be more sueful than the size of the DD, my gas bill in December was nearly 10 times the amount it was in July, that is not the fault of the energy company , it is because I simply used more during the winter, just for your comparison I use 19500kwh/gas and 2850kwh of electric my annual spend is around £1000 which would work back to around £80 pm that is a 3 bed semi.0
