Anyone else on UHRS getting an empty space where the query is usually listed?
Can't judge because I don't know what I'm supposed to be judging. Was fine for 10 minutes and then went blank. Tried logging in again, reinstalling the toolbar etc etc, to no avail.
Me too. I've submitted a ticket.0 -
Glad it's not just me!
I was worried because this happened when my laptop automatically 'upgraded' me to IE11, but I've checked and it hasn't repeated that and I'm still using IE10.
Annoying as I'd planned on doing 2 hours this morning, before going out so doubt I'll be able to catch up and do the full 4 hours today...0 -

Same issue late last night and this morning. I've updated my ticket, but looks like I'll have to make up the hours because yesterday's don't seem to have been reduced0 -
Well.. Have just taken the re-qualification test for the second week in a row, and it was yet another fail. Unfortunately I only got one more correct than I did last week, so looks like that's now it for me. And to be honest, even if they did give me another chance, I can't see myself ever managing to get back in again. The vast majority of the questions are basically a trick, which seems to have changed from last year as I never really had any problems passing it back then..
Good luck to the rest of you WSE's, and goodbye, I suppose! :hello:0 -
Gosh MallRat - I know the feeling...! The qualification test is a total nightmare, and there is in my view a major lack of consistency between some of the 'official' judgements.
You might get a third shot.. I did when I failed the test twice in a row on my first SLR.
Alas, you'd have thought by now they'd have got the message - their metrics don't reflect a standard which can be realistically met.0 -

Really felt I was going to fail it beforehand this week, TBH. And think I actually managed to in less than 10 questions(!) Felt like logging out and just abandoning it, but then remembered the whole "showing improvement" thing and so decided to soldier on.. For some reason, the categories were different from what I expected this time. Usually I get four from one category, and six from each of the other four, but this week it came out as 3/7/7/6/5. Don't know if this was an attempt by them to make it slightly easier for me to pass?! Or possibly they've been reading this thread, and it was the exact opposite?!
Even if the impossible does happen and I do get given a third attempt, I'm feeling pretty frustrated right now. Only the beginning of April, and I've already spent a whole month this year sitting out on review. (And now yet another week ahead of me..) Certain family members know a little bit about my situation. My Mum always looks at me with a sort of incredulous look on her face every time she hears I'm back on review. For some reason, she seems to see me as some sort of Brain of Britain, and that surely there MUST be a problem at Appen's end for ME to "fail" a test!My sister just finds it funny.. We were in the car the other week, and she was, like "So, you've been letting standards slip, again..?!" I dunno. It's just hard to explain what it's like to someone who's never done the job themselves..
Overall, feel I've pretty much done my best. Yeah, I could've spent slightly more time re-reading the guidelines and looking through RTA's etc, but it's hard to go beyond when you already struggle to get in the 20 hours. Was always more than I wanted to do in a job like this, but as it was the only job I was offered I didn't feel I had a choice.
Currently wading through the entire LF thread, cutting and pasting any info that seems remotely useful. Which looks like it's gonna take me all weekend.. May possibly re-register here with another username at some point for various reasons (assuming that's allowed?!) Oh, and have also been thinking of setting up a profile on Linkedin. So, if anyone around here is on there and interested in adding a fellow ABH-er, do feel free to PM me to pass on details.
Will make sure I update you guys when I hear something next week.. And sorry for the LONG, LONG post!!0 -
hey mallrat, dont know if you remember me, i went through all the appen tests in November, then they gave me a 1000 Q test which i failed so never got started with appen. thankfully that was a godsend! i went to LF and its so much better! far far easier to understand loads of varied tasks and very good feedback. you can work what ever you like, i tend to do about 40-45 hours a month which suits me!0

Thanks. And yeah, LF does seem the best option at the moment for this sort of work.
I did apply to them a year ago, but wasn't able to access the exam due to a technical problem at their end. They then classed me as having failed it, and for some reason I wasn't offered a second chance to re-take like everyone else. I'll admit I did then make a sneaky second application after they failed to reply to any of my emails, but never heard anything back from that. Assume I was automatically rejected due to me being honest about having applied to work for them before when it asked on the form.
All of which leaves me stuck in a difficult position now, obviously.0 -
Well, looks as if I will be taking the re-qual for the third time this week after all. Appears my overall score was marginally better this time, which is probably what swung it. Also feel like I'm beginning to get a better idea of how the metrics are worked out, eg. I was under the impression I needed to get the majority right in every category, but it now seems like getting half is good enough as long as you're only one out on the ones you get wrong.
Definitely the final chance now, but will give it my best shot as usual.. :j0 -
