I've just run the Microsoft Anti-Spyware and it's found a moderate threat level with Messenger Plus;
Messenger Plus! is an add-on for MSN Messenger. During installation, users may install an adware program called C2Media which is also known as LOP.com.
Advice: Moderate-risk items have some potential for adverse effect, but may be part of a wanted service. Users may decide to ignore such programs after review.
About Software Bundler: A program that installs other potentially unwanted software, such as adware or spyware. The license agreement of the bundling program may require these other components in order to function.
Does anyone know if this IS needed for msn...........or can I zap it??Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. From what I remember reading, uninstall Messenger plus and if its really needed say no to the adverts when reinstalling. Make sure Spybot,Ad-aware and Ccleaner are up to date and run scans. Spybot and Adaware should remove Lop etc and Ccleaner will clear up(hopefully)debris left behind. make sure you have updated version of Spyware blaster installed to help stop the rubbish in the first place.Down south where, unfortunately, the government does remember us.0

Just tried sandboxie last night.
what a fantastic little program!0 -
sra555......I'm glad you think so, it seems to be very difficult convincing people that sandboxie could be the solution they seek, since using it I've never had any problems.0

Ive had one hell of a problem with Lop.malware recently, Adware found it but as soon as deleted it, it came back, sure it came with K******. which my daughter USED (not any more) I tried every thing,
spyblaster,adaware,pc cillian,avg,mcafee,norton,ewido (great worm finder.recommended from this site) stinger,spybot ,microsoft beta, spysweeper
was busy for a couple of weeks - I finally cured it - How - restored to factory settings.
I had a blue toolbar at bottom of screen and what looks like dividers along top of Google home page. If anyone finds anything to get rid of this - please post on this site as I d like to keep a note of it incase I get problems again. Thanks
Oh forgot I also used the lop remover - this only worked once and once rebooted it came back.
Sorry to sound so doom & gloomThanks to everyone who posts comps :T0 -

Getting a different browser like Firefox won't "get rid" of stuff on your computer.
Have you updated your antivirus? Have a look at the settings and click "update" or similar to download the latest definitions. Then reboot and run the antivirus.
Download Spybot Search & Destroy and run that.
Let us know how you get on!!Torgwen.....................
