  • None of the Birmingham stores seem to have a policy

The problem is no-one on the site will know why the Lancaster home bargains adopted the policy

But i suppose if there was a spate (sp?) of trouble involving school children then head office is likely to side with the manager, as the bottom line is that if there is trouble then some customers (who are likely to spend more than children) may choose not to shop there.

Might it be worth contacting the local schools, after all if all the children in the area are being tarred with the same brush it is not going to look good for the schools and their policy on discipline

My 15 year old son goes to college on a friday(in the town centre) on a course through school, and he goes very often to Home Bargains in his lunch hour, people should not jump to conclusions of why a child isnt at school there is usually a very good reason,i would not be happy if this happened to him

Had fairtrade coffee at my local HB.100g jar for 29p!!
Also catering size tins, but can't remember the price.
I didn't buy as it expires at the end of next month and I don't need any.
Bought this type before though and it's ok.
  • Lexmark printers for 19.99 at ours today - not sure how good a deal that is.

Also, Tetley Fruit Tea-Bags (20 pack) for 29p.

The one in Northfield has the blackberry fruit tea-bags and they are lovely

but looks like MSE-ers have been buying loads as there were not a lot on display

when i was in there they had a six pack of the tradicraft coffee in one of their massive stock trolleys (sure there must be a proper name for it), but nothing on the shelf saying how much

was very tempted to save the staff the trouble of filling the shelf with it and taking it to the till direct, at 29p i wish i had done (or would that have been too brazen)

It's not bad. Lexmark always used to be cheap, but with very expensive cartridges. I'm not sure how they work with compatibles these days.

Quite dear cartridges still, even the compat ones. I currently have two Canon's (ip4200 and ip5200) which have individual ink tanks (PGi5 and CLi8's) which are clear plastic so a complete doddle to refill (there is a method to this involving keeping the outlet covered with your thumb (wrapped in a cheap HB food bag!) whilst filling it to stop the ink running out..... when you put the rubber stopper back in the top that creates the vacuum to stop it running out after it is filled) I do 500 passes of std quality full colour photos each month and it costs about 5 quid in ink which I buy mail order in 100ml bottles. Have been using same original cartridges for months. If I was using this Lexmark even with compatible carts it would cost nearer 50 quid or more for what I do.

If you hardly print anything then go for something like this Lexmark tho cos chances are whichever printer you buy it will clog up in time through not being used and if light user clearly cost of ink is less of a consideration.

I think you can refill Lexmarks cartridges with ink and syringe but as you can't see what you are doing through the side of the cartridge I can see it being very messy!

    Cheers
