Not sure it has come up but there is a loophole they could use, they could leave the child say £5000 in the will then put a clause in that if he contests he will get nothing, this happened to someone i know recently.

As for all those who are implying they are being immoral by not leaving him anything, well if the father dies first and everything barr what would need to be left re csa contributions untill he is 19, goes to his wife then he will get nothing anyway.
It is better to stay silent and be thought a fool, than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt. :p

Of all things we give a child, our words must be carefully wrapped.

You can't contact people if they make themselves uncontactable. We even had the girlfriend tell my children to stay away from her family, who are not a proper family anyway her, him and her kids with someone else.

    What deems a proper family?
I know when I used to see my child my GF's at the time were not best pleased about me visiting, though they would not behave in the way your ex's GF did/does :o
But in essence of the thread, most will reach a situation where the child is no longer a dependant.
  • Oh you know smug married 2.4 children lol

Coming back to the original question, I echo the comments that proper legal advice should be sought. Recent cases have left the Law needing clarity in this situation and are very relevant. Illot

'Proper family' hmm, well it isn't, these days, husband, wife and 2.4 biological children ( if indeed it ever really was, you only have to do your family tree back a few generations to know that there were more often than not step-half-adopted children, 2nd wives in practically every branch).

But that was nieces and nephews rather than children.

    It remains a grey area!

  • I don't know the personals of your situation, but think its really sad that contact has been lost has been lost with your child. It must be upsetting for them, and i think being hell bent on excluding them after death would be a further blow. Is it really worth it?
