i recently requested free energy monitor - through link on here, then couple of weeks later perhaps early last week got a postcard about shower device ...i would be receiving it shortly etc (infact got 2 identical postcards....strangley when i ordered energy monitor for me i ordered one for my daughter!)
i didnt take a lot of notice and sorry but cant be more specific bout what was on the cards other that it was going on that i was recieve shower thing in next 2 weeks i think, both addressed to me and not one to me and one for daughter although i put in her name and address i live in manchester and come under united utilites and certainly didnt order energy monitor from there site, sure it was through the mse newsletter few weeks backSave 12k in 2015 member 187. £62.50/60000 -
Well, mine arrived today. It appears to be some kind of device to fit into the kind of shower attachment which fixes to your taps, so is of no use to me whatsoever.0

I got a postcard today too... Don't live anywhere near Yorkshire or Trent (although I do have a Yorkie), haven't ordered any energy monitors and I am not with EDF.
In the bin it went.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I had one of those postcards over a year ago. It was addressed to previous owners, so I ignored it. A few months later, the device turned up. Completely useless to me, of course, as I have an electric shower. I've no way of getting in touch with the previous owners and the device came in a see-through bag, so I could see what it was. I ended up selling it for £2 at a car boot sale :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

I also got a post card thanking me for my interest and confirming dispatch. The device arrived today. It had a return address of "Energy Alliance, Unit 9 Rhodes Business Park, Silburn Way, Middleton, Manchester, M24 4NE."
I have never heard of the company or the device so it's going in the bin!0 -
I too have just received one of these cards and I too applied for a free energy monitor via MSE so I would say they are definitely linked!0
-
Just googled them and they are linked to the energy companies. I got an energy monitor from British Gas a few months ago - which is probably why this thing arrived unsolicited. The company also deals in other types of energy products - solar panels, etc., so this is probably a loss leader for them.
It is free, however, it's hardly a good advert for energy efficiency sending out so many of these unwanted items bearing in mind the resources that will have gone into making them, the packaging and wasted posting time - plus them being dumped into landfill!!0 -
I also received the notification at my mum's address not too long ago; funny, as I have a) lived in France since 2008, and b) have not requested anything even remotely related, such as an energy saving device. I told my mum not to respond to it. We shall see what happens!0

I am really disappointed to see that some people are dumping these in the bin, don't be so wasteful, if you have no use for it offer it to someone else, put it on freecycle or drop it off at a charity shop.0
