Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...0 -
I chuck mine on a tray on top of a kitchen unit and they're always fine.A friend is someone who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden.0

mjmum answered first. The sprouty bits should be at the top. If you've got a potato with more than one sprouty bit and the potato isn't too small you can chop it in half and get 2 for the price of 1...very MSE.I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0

Don't forget Monty says chit earlies and don't bother with main crop.0

The egg boxes are purely a useful solution to hold them in an upright position with, as said before, the rose end (the one with the most eyes...) upwards.
I ran out of egg cartons this year, and just laid a cereal box on its largest side and cut off the front panel - ie I made a high sided tray. If you place the potatoes carefully, they support each other in position!0 -

Please can i have some advice.. am a bit concerned... i planted up some seed potatoes about 3 weeks ago in compost bags... i filled each bag wi 10 seed potatoes - reading through the posts on here now i see that that is probably way too many!! is there any way that I can take some of them out and re-plant them in new bags so that i only have about 3 per bag or will they not like being disturbed? I feel so stupid.... can u tell i'm a newbie to this?!!!! lol. There are no shoots or anything showing, they are still below the surface of compost.
Out of interest how many potatoes can you expect to get from each seed potato? I know that it depends on type etc, but a rough guide would be fab, thanks!!
