Welcome Tallgirl. Essentially it's just a case of which debt you want to pay off before the end of next year, and how much it currently stands at. Then post updates as you knock chunks off it.

  • Hope you are ok Emily, saying goodbye isn't easy.

Sorry I have forgotten who posted but 100 years to clear £400 .... I doubt you will live to 100 + your age (I assume you are older than 18 with credit card ;)) You are correct that is truely disgusting how a company can charge that much in interest!!

All my ebay items sold and have now being posted with a £50 profit and hubby's over time comes in at just over £100 so a total of £150 off £347 ... leaves £197 :j

However I have received my Gas / Electric bill of arrears of £355.64  I am devasted to have racked up so much but we have been careless with leaving things on and this is over 18 months ... The company we was with didn't feel the need to increase the payments until now so effectively this month they have doubled my repayment ... Needless to say I changed the same day - I calculated my payments on what we actually use, used the cash back sites and I'm expecting a payment of £120 in March time (going to throw at some more debt) ... however the payment I should be making to my mum with more of hubbys over time next month won't be for as much as this bill needs paying first. :( I was very disheartened but I rejigged my budget, stopped stressing over it (because I can not control it) and worked out my game plan!!

Thank you Emily for this thread - this time last year I would of just buried my head in the sand hoping it would pass me by with out me noticing!! :o

    All rounded to nearest £500.

I am currently net debt free, since I have a share scheme at work which matures in less than 18 months, and currently has a value in excess of my total debts. My challenge in the interim is keeping solvent until that glorious day. Of course, everything I can pay off in the interim means the share scheme doesn't just clear me of my debts, but leaves me something worthwhile to spare, so I accept the challenge to clear (at least) one debt in 2012. No doubt there will be more juggling to find more 0% rates, which the vast majority of the above balances currently enjoy...

Good luck to everyone, may good fortune find those with most need.

    Hi all
Sister has flown in from America (she lives there!) for funeral, which is on Wednesday. Hope to do update of balances after xmas. Feel like I am letting you all down but I promise I will get back on track soon. I think you are doing AMAZING and I hope you all have a great Christmas. Remember ~ Don't spend what you can't afford. Christmas is the worst time for people getting into debt and the New Year is when most people have their 'Light Bulb Moment'!!!!!!!

Thanks to you all for your support at this difficult time and to all the newbies ~ I am not ignoring you, I PROMISE x
