I buy a lot more than I sell and I check feedbacks on sellers before bidding. It's there for a reason, especially when the purchase is expensive. I do get annoyed when sellers wait until I've left them feedback to give me feedback, I think it's cheeky of them. I've paid quickly and done my part of the deal..as far as I'm concerned they should leave feedback as soon as they see that I've paid them.0 -
So feedback is such an important thing, clearly demonstrated by the number of threads on it over the years, but no one can answer my question?

As a buyer, probably very little apart from sellers that insist you have a particular amount of Feedback before you can buy. I've seen this as high as "must have minimum 10 feedback".
But as you know, your "buyer" feedback accumulates, and eventually in my case when I feel the need to sell something, I can display my 100% F/B with pride. I am guessing a buyer from me may not always look to see how much I've sold, just my 100% FB. If it was me buying and there was a very small money value between someone on say 98% and someone on 100%, in general (but not always) I would purchse from 100% seller.

Yes I can understand both those points but that doesn't make much difference to who leaves it first. eBay should ban the whole 'need x amount of feedback' as we all have to start somewhere.
I think I mentioned further back that a bit of feedback does show you know the basics of using eBay.

See this is the issue, I can buy 1000 items get a red star and have 100% feedback or I can buy 500 items, sell 500 items, get 4 negs and be on 99.6%. I've had 4 bad transactions so odds are 0.8% of the time you will have a bad experience when buying from me. Who knows what the other seller will do as they've never sold, but appear to be better.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

We mark the item dispatched when posted we then leave feedback once feedback is recieved ...
My main prob is not being able to leave neg feedback for non payers anymore0 -
As a seller, I despatch promptly after payment is received and leave feedback promptly after despatch. I do this because as a buyer, that's how I like to be treated and in return, I'm happy to give efficient sellers positive feedback.
Occasionally, rogue buyers leave negatives, but I think they would have done that anyway, whether they had first received positive feedback or not. After all, not leaving prompt feedback only gives them an easy excuse to leave a negative."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

I can agree with this in principle, but unfortunately it falls down in the real world. Take a look on any given day at this forum for buyers being unreasonable after they've paid or after they've received their item. These buyers would all be receiving positive feedback despite giving the seller a nightmare.
I would love to think that all buyers and sellers acted like the 99% that make up the vast majority, but that 1% (which is huge numerically) spoil it for everyone else.
I used to leave feedback either after I received it or 1 month after the sale, so every one who ever buys off me get's feedback. As an experiment three weeks ago I started to leave feedback for my buyers within 2 days of them paying, so usually before they had received the item. As yet I haven't seen any difference in the rate that buyers leave feedback for me!

To turn it on it's head I and countless other sellers will cumulatively have tens of thousands of items we have sold where the buyer hasn't left feedback at all. I have supplied the goods as ordered. I assume the buyer has received them and is happy as they haven't opened a dispute, so where's my feedback? As already mentioned feedback is far more important to sellers than buyers and a lot of buyers can't take 30 secs to write a short thank you.It may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0 -
I always leave feedback as soon as the buyer pays (or as soon as I get round to it after that, anyway). If someone's going to leave me terrible feedback anyway (not that they ever have, thankfully, but you never know!), I can't really see that it's going to make a difference whether I've already left them feedback or not, and it ensures that I don't incur the wrath of the small number of buyers who do mind not being left feedback first. I can't think offhand of a scenario where I would benefit from having not left feedback.
As a buyer, though, I couldn't really care less when a seller leaves me feedback (if at all)- as long as they send me the item I'm happy!0 -
There is a lot more to being a good buyer than simply paying for an item. For that reason I never leave feedback on receipt of payment. As a seller I wouldn't leave feedback until I knew the buyer was happy and the transaction had been concluded successfully. Therefore I leave it once I have received it.
If I buy I always leave feedback on receipt.0
