Julie 67 I popped into Debs at lunch, some good deals in the sales
Bought a RJR top for the weekend. We're going out with mum and dad on Sat eve as mum's retiring tomorrow. Just a close family meal out but I've not had a new going-out top in ages, probably last Christmastime so thought I'd treat myself. Only 20% off but didn't realise that til I got to the till so... bonus!:D
The only problem(s) with going out with mum and dad is/are that:
a) dad will insist on paying for everything:mad: Now I know they're in a financially better place than we are as they have no mortgage or debts, but I'd really like to buy at least a round of drinks once in a while!
b) (may not be considered a problem by some) we will have to back to theirs afterwards and we never get out of their house sober as dad always gets us to try weird n wonderful drinks picked up on hols. You can never keep track of how much you're drinking either as he is constantly topping up your glass. I once thought I'd only had 2 pints of cider until I saw the 7 empty cans in the kitchen!:p Gosh I felt rough the next day!
Still need to make that card for my mum, may do it Sat morning now.
Not really done much OS todayjust the usual really. Oh, feeling less grumpy than I did earlier:)
Hugs to you all again xxx0 -
Ally: Welcome. Don't worry about interesting news, bore the pants off everyone - works for me.
I have a cold house too, due to meaness about heating. You just have to leave the dough longer to rise. I have been known to make it at night and leave in cold kitchen till the morning. For the second rising it sits on the cooker while it is coming up to baking temp.
Hiya, thanks for that, I will try some over the weekend as I've now finished work for the week. (should really be working until 6.30 but there's no one in so I'm going to sneak off early and go to mr ts to get some of those b1g2f selection boxes that I've heard about).
Will let you know what the bread turns out like when I get back on Monday if you don't mind. The other thing I wanted to ask is why does my bread in the bm turn out grey and doughy. I have to admit it's not very appetising at all.
I hope everyone has a good weekend.
Take care and thanks for replying.

Think I need a few days at home when I can cry/scream/throw things to get it out of my system - but do you think I'll get them? Nooo, neither do I - will have to do it in cyberspace if I need to!
A xo
Awww sorry to hear that hun, sending hugs xx
Halight :T nice to see you posting xx

Shalva - had to smile - this sort of thing happened with me one christmas eve. Thought I'd be really clever and do all the shopping at the crack of dawn, battled (and I mean battled!) with the other shoppers came out only to find the car wouldn't start. Can't remember why, but I remember waiting for hours for the AA man (courtesy of Mr T!)
Hectic days recently. Took ds1 out of school in an attempt to get closer to him - build a relationship. We went to scarborough to pick up a bed I'd seen on ebay for him - will sell his for more than I paid! Then found another bed for DS2, so spent more than I'd planned.
However have come back to find that I've sold the old wooden desk we had upstairs and never used and also the wardrobe and the bedside tables and chest of drawers. Now if this doesn't encourage me to downsize NOTHING WILL!!!
Fingers crossed they all pay up.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
sistercas Hope you have a fabulous Birthday and get spoiled rotten.
Brilliant wheeze doing the £1.00 a day, I went and splashed the cash and have only a few more presents to buy now:beer::beer:
Lou honey, one step forward is what you must concentrate on, ignore the backwards ones we are all rooting for you.
Bitsy I bought a Remoska a couple of years ago and I swear its paid for itself as I hardly have the big oven on at all now Worth every penny I think
School run this morning then came home put my feet up, did a bit of knitting and dropped off for an hour .I felt so much better when I woke up.So I may have a little recharge of my batteries when I get a spare half hour from now on as it does give me a bit of a boost.I don't sleep too well when its damp as my old joints are a bit cream-crackered with arthritis so I am doing as I'm told and taking it a wee bit easier
as I'm the wrong side of 65 I want to at least make my three score and ten:D
Boys were smashing when I picked them up from school and the three youngest helped tidy up the sitting room and Mikey whizzed the hoover around bless him (he was pretending to be a jet fighter at the time as well ):rotfl:
Just off to have a cuppa and watch a bit of t.v.
Have a good evening everyone
JackieO xx
P.S. I did that once Shalva and felt such a twerp, and all these big stong men were tutting around patronisingly ,a young boy came along in a school uniform (he was around 14) and said 'I'll get in for you' and blow me down he did.God knows how but he just slipped the boot lock ,but then it was on a Nissan.0
