£500 + VAT per year is a 'collection fee'. So this service is about £2 per day plus the charge for any parcels you send, even if you do not have a daily collection none of the collection fee will be credited back to you
If it is a viable company, if you send over 200 parcels per year over 2kg then it would still be cheaper than any comparable courier.

  • Has anyone used this company ar received post throught them yet?

I've seen nor heard nothing, the only reference to them I've seen has been on here, no one I've spoken to in the courier business has heard of them either.

  • 2.15 An understanding that the minimum annual payments to the company in respect of charges for all services will amount to a minimum of £1,000.00 per annum exclusive of VAT, and annual collection charges, should that sum not be achieved the account facilities may at the company's discretion be immediately reviewed.

As the thread has been picked up again, has anyone used them, surely if they were up and running someone would at least have had a delivery?

Only thing is you have to book at least 1000 deliveries per years or your account may be suspended
  • One of my suppliers told me they've dropped Yodel because they just doubled their prices for them, if Yodel are having to put up prices with their naff service I can't see these guys giving great service for a quid, it's seems an excellent deal but the level of service would be a big concern.

1000 parcels isn't much really, that's just two pick ups a week containing their minimum of 10 parcels in each.

I think Yodel are having to put up their prices to stop their service being naff, demand got too high and they don't pay their drivers enough which is how they ended up being such a mess.

I actually thought this was pretty stupid when I first saw it, but if they can get some decent companies on board it could just work, it seems they've put themselves in a quandary to start with though. No one will use it if there aren't others on board and no one will want to deliver if there aren't any users on board and only if they can ensure delivery will they get any users.

£1000 per year is about a fifth of what we spend on couriers and for £1 we'd be able to shift a lot of RM deliveries too, so would be looking at at least 3 times that and for the last couple of years I'd say we were a very small company.

The problem with any of these deliveries is the areas drivers won't want to go to to get 50p, it's much easier to throw a parcel over the nearest hedge than travel 20 miles out of your way to find no one is in and have to go back again the next day. Once they get a solution to that and get some big company on board then they might have a chance.

Having said all that it doesn't much look like this firm are moving forward, I certainly wouldn't part with £500 for them.

  • Have yodel put their prices up for some? I'm still being charged £2.48 per 48 hour parcel!!! Prices still aren't as good as Hermes though, £2 for a standard one of my parcels!!! :D

What's the weight/size/insurance on that please, and what volume do you ship? Also, do Hermes reliably track and get a signature?
