    Hi InsertWittyName,

That is fantastic news, I guess you're beaming like the Cheshire Cat - I would be, and doing a jig :j. Well done you.:D
  • Thanks Kerfuffle (love the name!),

To be honest, it serves them right - they took over the debt, removed all of the flexibility of it then ramped up the interest rate on it!

They have handled the complaint well though, especially considering some of the horror stories I read regularly on the forums about Santander.
    I was a DFW, now I'm a MFW :T

    Hi InsertWittyName,

We have a fixed-rate loan with Santander because they took over from Alliance and Leicester. I have to say we haven't got any complaints with them (yet), but coincidently I was looking through the paperwork today, and it seems there is an early redemption fee if we wanted to pay the loan off early.

I haven't actually got the money to pay the loan off, but I could pay it off with a cheaper method of borrowing that we already have in place, I'm just not sure whether the redemption fee would offset the gain by doing that. One side of me wants to save possibly a tiny bit of interest, the other side of me says it's too much hassle for what it's worth. If Santander is as bad as everybody says I may just go for the quiet life :rotfl:

    Anyway, I'm waffling out loud.

I'm really pleased you've finally had a good experience with them.:T
  • Ok up bright and early this morning even though my day off I have just gone through my debts and can you put me down for £5900.56 please Mf0u. It is not as bad as I thought and very doable. Going to start my day by going in to town and popping to a bank I still hold an old account with it has a small balance in there so going to see about withdrawing and putting towards paying this off!
Starting as I mean to go on,:j:j:j

  • Morning all! A bit fragile here this morning! Went to a Neals Yard Remedies party at a mates last night, and ended up at another mates drinking prosecco at quarter to one this morning. Oops. However all it cost me was £4.25 bottle of wine and I had a lovely facial but didn't buy owt :)
Today I need to be productive. My boss is coming to work to observe me Monday so I need to prepare like mad, which unfortunately involves sorting my entire back room where all my work stuff/ paperwork is. I have started by making a list on a diary page of the whole of Dec of what's going In And what's going out direct debit wise on what date . I'm going to carry this on on my laptop as I'm o. The iPad and can't type properly
